Mike Aldren wrote (May 10, 2010) John Cena recently passed his 1,000th day as WWE champion putting him on a count on one hand list along with the likes of Bruno Sammartino (4,040 days), Hulk Hogan (2,185 days), Bob Backlund (2,138 days) and Pedro Morales (1,027 days).

After the match, John Cena ripped off his Nexus armband and the Nexus ran down to attack him but he and Orton took them all out. The Nexus quickly retreated, along with their defeated leader. Cena presented Orton with the WWE championship belt and they hugged. The Cena-haters tried to start a "nah nah nah nah hey hey hey good bye" chant but it didn't catch on. Orton had a quick celebration and left Cena in the ring. Cena soaked in the crowd response. The chanted "Cena! Cena! Cena!" and he saluted all four sides of the arena. Cena went over and hugged Michael Cole (but ignored Lawler & Striker) then slapped hands with fans at ringside. They gave Cena a farewell and pretended like he was fired from WWE legitimately. he went up to the stage and posed before walking through the arena high-fiving everybody he passed.
