In The Beginning: 1970: Buddy Roberts got his start wrestling in Canada, and then worked as enhancement talent for the AWA as "Buddy Smith".. Early 1970s: Buddy Roberts later formed a tag team with Jerry Brown known as The Hollywood Blondes.. ~~~The Hollywood Blondes were top draws in Oklahoma, Grand Prix (Maritimes), All-South (Atlanta), Florida, Charlotte and L.A... Buddy Roberts was eventually booked as Dale Valentine, the brother of Johnny Valentine for Joe Blanchard's Southwest promotion.. The Fabulous Freebirds: Buddy Roberts was a member of one of the most famous factions ever, The Fabulous Freebirds with Terry Gordy & Michael Hayes.. August 2, 1980--Mid-South: Dusty Rhodes & Buck Robley defeated Buddy Roberts & Terry Gordy in a "Double Bullrope" match.. November 25, 1982--Mid-South: Ted DiBiase & Matt Borne defeated Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts to retain the Tag Team titles.. April 16, 1983--Mid-South: Kerry & David von Erich defeated The Freebirds (Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts)..
