TNA CHAMPION ARRESTED, WWE WRESTLER FIRED, MORE
I just wanted to send out a quick news update as several stories have broke during the last few hours. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and is blessed with great weather.

WWE fired Carlito (Carlos Colon Jr.) this past week for an alleged Wellness Program violation and subsequent refusal to enter rehab. A report posted on the WWE website noted that his termination followed a first violation of the program. However, WWE sources indicate that Carlito, 31, did not fail a drug test but instead was fired after he arrived at Monday’s Raw in Toronto and management felt that he was unfit to perform. John Cena wrote on his Twitter page today: “I am sad to hear the WWE has decided to release Carlito. I always thought he could, and should have accomplished more than he did. I wish the best.” Story is developing.

Scott Hall, 51, was arrested last week on charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. Police were called to a disturbance just before 2am at Hitching Post Bar in Chuluota, FL on 5/14. When they arrived at the bar they found Hall cursing at a female bartender and several other customers. A deputy attempted to place Hall in custody but he resisted.
He was eventually carted off in a patrol car. The bartender told police how Hall was cut off after drinking too much at which point he became very aggressive. Outside the bar he punched out the window of a cab that had arrived to take him home and also shoved two females. When he was booked back at the station, he claimed he was an unemployed wrestler and made no mention of working for TNA Wrestling. This incident took place just days before the Sacrifice pay-per-view. TNA has made no public statement since this story broke. Hall has recently posted YouTube videos from the backstage area at TNA shows, and also from hotel rooms and bars where he is seen drinking with Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash.

Booker T made a surprise appearance at the TNA house show last night in Lake Charles, LA. He faced Rob Van Dam in the main event apparently as a late replacement for AJ Styles. He cut a heel promo stating that he had returned for one-night only and didn’t give a damn about TNA or its fans. Styles didn’t make the show as his flight from Atlanta was detoured to Houston. Booker made the little over two hour drive from his home in Houston to Louisiana.

Macho Man Randy Savage (Randy Poffo, 57), married longtime girlfriend Lynn Payne, 55, on 5/10 in Sarasota, FL. The couple wed during a ceremony on Lido Beach, with only their closest family in attendance, according to Poffo’s new publicist. Poffo and Payne, who is originally from South Pittsburg, TN, met in Sarasota in 1974. At the time, Poffo was playing minor league baseball for the Tampa Tarpons and Payne was attending school at the Ringling School of Art and Design. They dated for two years before parting ways. After a near three-decade separation, the couple reunited in 2001. “Thirty-six years ago, Lynn and I met on Lido Beach,” said Poffo. “I feel so fortunate that I had a second chance to marry my first love, here where it all began.” The wedding photos are online at www.the-sun.co.uk/wrestling.

Linda McMahon won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator in Connecticut at the Republican Convention last night in Hartford, CT.
Vince and Shane McMahon were on hand along with other members of the McMahon family to raise Linda’s hand in victory. Linda told reporters how she hopes to “lay the smackdown” on her Democratic rival Richard Blumenthal, who also won his party’s seat last night, in the November elections. However, GOP primary opponent Richard Simmons stated after the convention that he still intends to stay in the race and challenge Linda for the Republican vote. “Linda McMahon has invested over $16 million in this campaign. I have spent nothing taking my case to the voters, and there remains a case to be made,” said the Simmons campaign in a press release. “There is much time left in this campaign. I have sufficient funds to make a compelling case to voters before the primary, and that is what is expected by my supporters, many of whom have already asked me to remain in this race regardless of outcome.” Linda also released the following statement after her victory last night: “We’re incredibly pleased with the growing momentum behind our campaign and the better-than-expected show of support we received from Republican leaders and activists across our state. Elections are about contrasts, and Connecticut Republicans today sent a clear and resounding message that they intend to challenge the Washington establishment and its hand-picked candidate with a political outsider. This election will be a choice between an outsider running to shake up Washington and a career politician eager to join the establishment. It will be a contrast between real-world business experience and government experience. It will be a choice between something different and more of the same. It is little wonder we have drawn to a statistical dead heat with Dick Blumenthal so quickly. I’m very honored to have earned my party’s endorsement and nomination, and I am determined to lead our party to victory in November. Let’s keep the momentum going straight through to Election Day.”
