Update on the road to recovery for Chris Bey

Chris Bey felt a sense of mourning following his paralyzing injury in October 2024 as he feared that his in-ring career was truly dead.

Bey suffered a neck injury during a tag-team match between ABC and The Hardyz and has been out of the ring ever since.

On a recent edition of the “Insight” podcast, Bey reflected on the injury and after surgery, feared that his life as he had known it was over. He said,

“I didn’t see a world where I came back to wrestling. I was laying there, couldn’t move anything from the neck down. It felt like I had passed away, because there’s all this love for me online, they say you get your flowers when you’re gone.

“There’s all this love for me online that everyone’s telling me about and everyone’s calling me and having people reach out to me who I’ve never my wildest dreams imagined reach out to me.

“They’re making video packages about me. It was like I was watching and spectating my life and my life is now over, and wrestling is my life. It was my life. It is my life. It still consumes me. In that moment I was like okay, wrestling is over.”

Despite being given a 10-25% chance of walking again, Bey has defied the odds with a recent video of him standing and walking going viral.

On the podcast, Bey remained positive, saying that at 29 years old, he can afford to take a break for years before returning to in-ring competition.

Bey gave the adage of “never say never” when asked about wrestling again but is focusing on his physical recovery for the time being.
