MAIN EVENT ANNOUNCED FOR THE UNION’S SEPTEMBER DEBUT

Over the last few weeks, fans have been asking one question over and over in regards to The Union’s debut show this September:  “Who will fight STEVE CORINO in the main event?”  Well today, AUSTIN SHAW, Head of Fighters’ Affairs for The Union has made the announcement that everyone has been waiting for…

STERLING JAMES KEENAN has demanded the opportunity to go one-on-one with “The King of Old School” Steve Corino at BORN AGAIN.  SJK, the #1 contender to the AIW, FNW and IWC Heavyweight championships, may be best known these days for his appearances in England for 1PW.  It was there that Keenan developed his hatred for former 1PW World champion Steve Corino and Austin Shaw knew that this potential match-up had “international grudge match” and “main event excitement” written all over it!

With the main event now set, Austin Shaw had one last task to fulfill:  finding a new opponent for EL GENERICO.  The current PWG World champ had been scheduled to face Sterling James Keenan but was now left wondering if he would have an opponent at all.  That question was answered when Buffalo, NY native and current NWA Empire champion PEPPER PARKS accepted Austin Shaw’s invitation to compete at BORN AGAIN. 

Pepper Parks, trained by the legendary LES THATCHER, is a 2-time former Heartland Wrestling Association champion and was recently chosen to compete in the 16-man tournament to crown a new NWA World Heavyweight champion.  Parks is a world class competitor who brings grit, skill and excitement to the ring every time he wrestles.  The Union is pleased to welcome Pepper Parks to its roster and is looking forward to an exciting match between Parks and El Generico on September 8th.

The Union of Independent Professional Wrestlers presents “BORN AGAIN” on Saturday September 8th 2007 starting at 7pm at Royal Canadian Legion Hall #101 in Toronto, Ontario.  Doors open at 630pm.  The Legion Hall is located at 3850 Lake Shore Blvd West, midway between Dixie Road and Brown’s Line and directly adjacent to both the Long Branch GO station and the TTC’s Long Branch Loop. 

The venue has a FULLY LICENSED BAR so fans are reminded to bring valid ID and encouraged to use public transit if they plan to purchase alcohol.

R.I.P. DEVIL BHUDAKAHN

James Patrick Fawcett, known professionally as “Devil Bhudakahn” and “Vince Viper“, was found dead in his suburban Pittsburgh home on Sunday July 15th 2007. Wrestling as Devil Bhudakahn, he held part of the first-ever Union Tag Team championships in 2003 as the leader of “The Devil’s Advocates”.  Mr. Fawcett was 32 years old at the time of his passing and is survived by his wife and three young daughters.

The Union of Independent Professional Wrestlers wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and fans of James Fawcett at this most troubling of times.
