During the March 31st edition of the Countdown To Raw show on The Score, host Glenn Schiiler interviewed Shane McMahon. Below is the transcript of their conversation.
GS: Shane McMahon, of course, known in the past as a very physical guy. You’re not scared to take some big leaps at pay-per-views…several years ago at WrestleMania off the Titantron. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen that physical side of you, Shane.
SM: There’s a reason for that. It hurts very badly, so I’m enjoying the business aspect of it right now and continuing to grow our product.
GS: It’s been a great week here in Orlando. Aside from the main event, which obviously was WrestleMania, what’s been your favorite moment this past week?
SM: I think really seeing the entire Citrus Bowl like it’s never been seen before, filled with our fans. I mean there’s nobody like our fans all over the world. I mean the sea of expressions with the signs and they come out and they voice their opinions. Everybody knows they’re a part of the show. One of our keys to success the world over is our unbelievable relationship with our fan base and I just want to say thank you to all of them around the world.
GS: Another great moment this week…Saturday night when Ric Flair got inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. For the fans out there, what is your favorite Ric Flair story that they maybe never heard of?
SM: I can’t really go into that on television. It’s more private, but Ric is such a class act. He absolutely deserves to be in there. I mean as so many other guys have gave him the accolade, which he deserves, he is the man and there probably will be nobody ever come close to what Ric Flair has accomplished.
GS: Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Snoop Dog, John Legend…these are A-list celebrities we’re talking about. What does it say that, in the post-Rock/Austin era, big celebrities are still a part and want to be involved in WrestleMania and wrestling in general?
SM: True. Well, it actually started way before those guys. Remember the first crossover we did was WrestleMania 1. Liberace, Mr. T…and that was bringing outside guys into our product and we’ve done that throughout the years. We’ve done it with Mike Tyson. We’ve done it with a couple of other people, but this year was special with Floyd “Money” Mayweather. It was awesome to bring him in there and what an amazing match it was.
