	Shawn Michaels - From The Vault Description:I was lucky enough to find this 2 DVD set cheap at an ebay auction, but I would have paid a lot more for it. It contains some of Shawn Michaels' most historic matches - the Iron Man at Wrestlemania 12, the first Hell In A Cell, ladder matches, a No Holds Barred and his non-sanctioned comeback match with Triple H to name a few. Watching Shawn evolve from a young, gloriously mulletted Rocker to the polished veteran that he is today is highly interesting and provides some insights into his development as professional wrestler. Included on the No Holds Barred match with Diesel is an alternate commentary with Shawn and Kevin Nash, which is highly entertaining to listen to as you watch the match. The DVD extras are absolutely fantastic. They contain such hard-to-find clips as the Rockers split on Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake's "Barbershop" segment in 1992, videos of both himself and Bret Hart training for the Wrestlemania 12 Iron Man and TV spots with significant storyline characters - Mankind, Undertaker, Diesel and Razor Ramon. Also included is a brief featurette documenting Shawn's upbringing in Texas, interviews with his parents and friends and some wonderful childhood photos of a young HBK wrestling his friends into swimming pools.
The DVD doesn't shy away from Shawn's heel turns (indeed, hurling Marty Jannetty through a plate glass window won him no friends back in '92), nor does it gloss over his suspension (although only storyline reasons are given for that, not the real deal), but it misses entirely Shawn's role in the Montreal Screwjob while highlighting the rest of his involvement with Bret Hart. No other performer features as heavily as Bret yet the Screwjob is conveniently left out. Instead, Shawn waxes almost poetic about his respect for Bret Hart and their Iron Man Match. There's a touch of cheese in a musical montage called "Tell Me A Lie", clearly aimed at Shawn's more melodramatic female audience, but a second music video "Nothing Left" detailing his betrayal by Triple H and his subsequent comeback is grittier and not as overladen with dramatic slow-motion. All in all, a must for any HBK fan. From The Vault is a censored version of his life in professional wrestling but is nevertheless extremely entertaining and great value for money - you get to keep some of his greatest matches all in one place. It was great HBK action from start to finish. Basically it had a match or two for every period in his career. However, much like the Ric Flair DVD, you expect an anthology, but do not receive one. I hope to some day own a huge collaboration of HBK matches in one huge box set. Then I could die happy. 8/10. Mike McMahon wrote in with his review: I recently picked up a copy of From The Vault: Shawn Michaels and I'm glad I did. I've always been a huge fan of Michaels since I started watching in his DX days. I remembered hearing about all his best matches before I had started watching. While I had seen some of them (the Ladder match, Unsanctioned return match, and the 1994 Royal rumble), there is no better set of matches assembled than the ones on this disc. The 7 matches are: -AWA: The Midnight Rockers vs. The Playboy and the Prettyboy (*) -Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon - WWF's First Ladder match (1/2) -Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart - The first Iron Man match (*) -Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel - No Holds Barred (1/2) -Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind (3/4) -Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker - Hell in a Cell ( 1/4) -Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H - Unsanctioned "relaxed rules" (1/2) I don't rate a single match on the 2 DVD set lower than three-stars. The Ironman match that Bret Hart resents (as he says in his DVD, expect a review shortly) is perhaps the greatest story ever told within a wrestling ring. And Shawn Michaels also proves to be quite the innovator, too, as he partakes in WWF's first Ladder, Ironman, and Hell in a Cell matches, all of which leave the crowd in absolute awe. His match vs. Mankind is completely different from an average Shawn Michael's match and Mick Foley stated in his autobiography "Have a Nice Day" that it was his favorite match he ever wrestled in. Few men can recieve the high praise like Shawn Michaels has, and Michaels has earned it all over the years. The matches showcased on From The Vault show exactly why he's the Showstopped, the Main Event, and the Icon. Rating*: 9/10 and a must have for any Shawn Michaels fan.
