The Rock Says... The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment

by The Rock with Joe Layden

Description: I didn't like this book as much as I was hoping to. I did finish it all the way through and there were enjoyable parts, such as his inputs on certain aspects of his career. It was interesting to read about the whole idea between his initial character push as Rocky Miavia and how he came up with the beginning stages of "The Rock."

The only downfall is that while it does sound Ghost Written, it still reads as though he's pretending everything was legit. Speaking in third person from beginning to end got rather annoying and making it seem like everything was an actual fight was even more annoying. It was as though he was in-character through the whole thing.

Rating: In the end, I'd give it 3/5. It's fine if you're a huge fan of the guy and not too concerned with hearing the actual Dwayne Johnson's views, but would prefer hearing everything from The Rock. Personally, I found it annoying and wouldn't read the book again after going through it once.

On the plus side, it delivered what the title suggests, "The Rock Says." The Rock definitely did say... through the whole damn thing.

Eric Anderson wrote in with his review:
Honest, but possibly ghost written. It tells the story of The Rock, but perhaps not at a point in his life where a story needed to be told. Right now would be a great time, but perhaps not back in 1999.

Simon Clark wrote in with his review:
The Rock Says is a fascinating read but a problem is that it sounds ghost written. As The Rock isn't as charismatic in the book as he his on screen. When I read it for the first time late 1999 I was gripped, it shows The Rock off as a very humble person which made me even more of a fan of his after i read it. Most of the book is about wrestling, and not about his life, but it is intersting to learn about the antics him and Mick Foley get up to backstage. This book at times can get very emotional as the chapter 'Owen' portrays. This book is a very compelling even though The Rock didn't write the book it still has that class about it that every WWE published book has Out of 10 I would give The Rock says - ******** (8 out of 10)
