“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
A video kicks off the show highlighting what happened last week, including Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair taking Charlotte Flair out, and Velveteen Dream returning.
Roderick Strong makes his way to the ring and yells for his music to be cut off. Strong is furious over Velveteen Dream putting his wife and son’s faces on his tights. Strong is going to demand he do something or he’ll do something he’ll regret.
Bronson Reed cuts Strong off. Reed says Strong has a big problem with him, and they’re going to fight.
Roderick Strong vs. Bronson Reed
Reed gets in the ring, and the bell rings. They brawl before Strong kicks him. Reed soon avalanches him down and head-butts away at him. Reed hits a scoop slam before dropping an elbow. Strong fights back at Reed and knees him in the chest. Strong chops him again, but Reed head-butts him down. Reed chops the chest, but Strong chops him right back. Reed sends him to the corner and hits a sidewalk slam. Reed pulls Strong’s shirt over his head and chops the chest. Strong fights back again and chops him. Reed takes him down and rips at the face. Reed avalanches him and clubs the back. Reed whips him hard into the corner, and Strong goes down. Reed gets him to his feet and viciously sends him to the opposite corner for a near fall. Reed then applies a bearhug. Strong soon fights up and hits a nasty chop. Reed takes him down and hits a long delayed vertical suplex. The crowd gives him a nice hand. Strong avoids an avalanche in the corner and gets out of the ring. Reed dives off the apron with a shoulder tackle.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Reed hit Strong with a back suplex. During the commercial break, Reed hit Strong with a sit-out splash. Strong also hit an Olympic Slam. Back to live action, Reed hits an inverted atomic drop and takes him down. Reed clotheslines him in the corner and hits a running hip attack for a near fall. Strong gets out of a suplex, but Reed elbows him down. Reed lifts Strong up and snaps him off the ropes before turning him inside out with a lariat for a near fall. Strong kicks back at him, but Reed sweeps the feet and hits a senton splash. Reed goes to the top rope, but Strong sweeps the feet on the top rope. Strong hits an enzuigiri and connects with a superplex for a near fall.
Strong hits a Wrecking Ball Dropkick and puts him in the ring. All of a sudden Velveteen Dream’s purple lighting comes on. Reed hits Strong with a suicide dive and gets him in the ring. Reed dives off the top rope into a knee from Strong. Strong picks up the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Roderick Strong
The Velveteen Dream appears on the titantron. He’s wearing tights that say, “Call me up Marina.” Dream asks what if someone took something from Strong? Strong has a wife and little boy. A picture of Strong with his family is shown on the screen. What if something happened to Strong? Dream can promise if something ever happened to Strong, someone somewhere would fulfill all of Marina’s dreams. Strong angrily runs to the back.
Candice LeRae will take on Dakota Kai later tonight.
Video Package: The BroserWeights take a road trip to NXT TakeOver: Portland. They drive with the Dusty Trophy in the back of a convertible. Pete Dunne drives on the wrong side of the road thinking he’s in England. They eventually get pulled over and the car gets towed: neither of them have a license.
-Commercial Break-
Candice LeRae vs. Dakota Kai
The bell rings, and LeRae hits a codebreaker. Kai avoids a corner avalanche and big boots LeRae in the face. Kai hits the ropes, but LeRae hits a step-up enzuigiri. Kai rolls out of the ring, and LeRae hits a suicide dive. LeRae gets in the ring, and Kai sweeps the feet. LeRae knocks her back and hits another suicide dive. LeRae gets in the ring and hits a third suicide dive. LeRae gets back in the ring once more and hits a fourth suicide dive. LeRae gets her in the ring and hits a missile dropkick for a two count.
Kai soon takes her down and chokes her with the boot before choking her on the ropes. Kai backs her into the corner, but LeRae knocks her back. LeRae goes to the ropes, but Kai cuts her off and goes for a superplex to the floor. LeRae knocks her down, but Kai quickly boots her down to the apron. Kai gets in the ring and chokes LeRae on the ropes. Kai covers for a two count. LeRae’s nose is busted open. LeRae avoids a boot, but Kai quickly sends her into the ring post.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see LeRae dropkick Kai. LeRae gets Kai on the ropes and hits a diving super neckbreaker. LeRae goes for a springboard moonsault, but Kai moves. LeRae soon comes back with a high angle German Suplex before applying the Gargano Escape. Kai screams in pain and tries to get to the ropes, but LeRae rolls her away. Kai quickly rolls her over and picks up the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Dakota Kai
LeRae goes to attack Kai after the match, but Kai bounces her off the timekeeper’s table. Kai hits LeRae in the midsection with the ring bell. All of a sudden, Tegan Nox attacks Kai. Security pulls them apart. Nox breaks free and attack Kai again, but Kai escapes.
Johnny Gargano will face Cameron Grimes, next.
-Commercial Break-
Johnny Gargano vs. Cameron Grimes
The bell rings, and they circle the ring. Gargano wrenches the arm, but Grimes twists out and hits a waistlock takedown. Gargano gets up and hits a snapmare before applying a rear chin lock. Grimes quickly gets out. Gargano picks the leg and takes him down before applying a deathlock. Grimes struggles, but he gets to the ropes. Gargano takes him down again and applies a Gargano Escape. Gargano stretches away at him. Grimes tries to roll out, but Gargano keeps the hold applied. Grimes fights up and whips him off before turning him inside out with a knee to the midsection. Grimes applies an arm bar. Gargano gets out of a roll-up before hitting a hurricanrana. Gargano dropkicks him before hitting a clothesline over the top rope. Gargano goes for a plancha, but lands on the apron when Grimes moves. Gargano kicks him back before hitting a cannonball off the apron to the floor!
A “Johnny Wrestling” chant picks up. Gargano chops him at ringside a bit before sitting on the apron. Gargano gets him in the ring and goes for a slingshot DDT, but Grimes blocks it and hits a wild flapjack. Grimes then hits a sliding knee to the face.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Grimes turn Gargano inside out with a whip to the corner before hitting a German Suplex with a bridge for a near fall. Gargano shoulders him from the apron and goes for a slingshot spear, but Grimes catches him and throws him. Gargano quickly hits a springboard flatliner. Gargano punches away at him before hitting a backbreaker. Gargano takes him down with a front suplex before turning him inside out with a clothesline. Grimes rolls out of the ring to recover. Gargano teases a dive, so Grimes gets in the ring. Gargano hits a slingshot spear for another near fall.
Grimes rolls Gargano up for a two count. Grimes counters a twisting DDT into a slam for a near fall. Gargano and Grimes exchange strikes before hitting the ropes in all directions. Grimes hits a Collision Course for a near fall! Grimes picks him up and goes for a slam, but Gargano counters into a DDT. Garano sets up for a kick, but Grimes kicks him. Gargano hits the ropes and catches him with the Gargano Lock for the submission.
Winner by Submission: Johnny Gargano
Cathy Kelley is interviewing NXT Champion Adam Cole. Cole says he’s going to teach Kushida a lesson. Then he’ll teach Tommaso Ciampa a lesson at NXT TakeOver: Portland. Ciampa wants his life back, but this title is Cole’s life. Ciampa will do a lot to get the title back, but Cole will do anything to keep the title over his shoulder.

Lio Rush vs. Angel Garza
The bell rings, and Garza rips his pants off. Rush charges and does some lightening quick jukes and jives. Garza avoids the Come Up and hits a dropkick. Garza puts him in the corner and chops the chest. Garza pops Rush up and kicks him in the ribs. Garza puts Rush on the top rope and puts him in the tree of woe. Garza hits a running knee to the midsection for a one count. Garza gets Rush on the apron and attacks before putting him to the floor. Garza drives him into the ring post and steps before draping him on the barricade and kneeing him.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Rush hit a suicide dive on Garza. Rush gets on the apron and hits a corkscrew summersault senton! Rush gets him in the ring and hits a big kick to the head for a two count. Rush kicks him in the ribs a few times. Garza soon avoids a kick and knees him. Rush kicks him back, so Garza hits a superkick. Rush goes for the Come Up, but Garza knees him down. Garza turns him inside out before hitting a facebuster for a two count. Garza gets Rush on the top rope and climbs. Rush head-butts him before hitting an avalanche crusher! Garza rolls out of the ring. Rush goes to the top rope for the Final Hour to the floor!
Rush gets Garza in the ring, and an “NXT” chant picks up. Rush tries for the Final Hour, but Garza gets the knees up. Garza rolls him up for a near fall! Garza superkicks him and tries for a Wing Clipper. Rush counters into an inside cradle for the win!
Winner by Pinfall: Lio Rush
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin comes out to the stage and confronts Rush. Devlin says Rush is another stop on the Jordan Devlin Cruiserweight Championship Tour. He’ll show Rush next week that you never bet against an ace. This match will happen next

The commentators run down the NXT TakeOver: Portland card, which takes place this Sunday.
Bianca Belair vs. Santana Garrett
The bell rings, and Belair spears her down. Belair clubs her down and hits a splash. Belair hits a KOD for the win.
Winner by Pinfall: Bianca Belair
Belair grabs a microphone. She’s upset that Rhea Ripley is going to Raw and confronting Charlotte Flair like she’s not even there. Belair says she’s still here. Ripley can keep playing with her because at NXT TakeOver: Portland, she’s leaving with the NXT Women’s Championship.
NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley’s music hits, and she comes out to the ring. Ripley says she’s not looking past Belair. She’s looking right at her. At NXT TakeOver: Portland, she’s going right through Belair. Ripley ducks a clothesline and punches her. Belair quickly punches her while she takes her jacket off and hits a KOD. Belair stands tall and talks a little trash.
Coming up next, Adam Cole takes on Kushida in a non-title match.
Video Package: Matt Riddle walks Pete Dunne over to a private airplane. They have the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Trophy with them. Riddle has Dunne help him get the trophy in the cargo hatch. Riddle then shoves Dunne into the cargo hatch and gets in before closing the door. It’s Triple H’s plane and the BroserWeights are stowaways.
-Commercial Break-
Tommaso Ciampa is in the NXT training room watching footage of himself giving up the NXT Championship after sustaining a neck injury. Ciampa talks about all the “what ifs” he experienced that day. Now what if he is the one man to stop Adam Cole and take the title. Ciampa wonders what if he wins and gets the shot back he lost, which was going to NXT TakeOver on WrestleMania weekend? Ciampa has nothing to lose.
Adam Cole vs. Kushida
This is a non-title match. Adam Cole’s NXT Championship is not on the line.
They lock up, and Cole wrenches the arm. Kushida twists out, and Cole backs him into the ropes. Kushida punches him down and hits a takedown. Kushida applies a front facelock. Cole gets out of the ring to avoid a kick. Kushida hits a baseball slide before punching away at him. Cole quickly comes back by sending him into the ring steps. Cole sets up for a Panama Sunrise on the floor, but Kushida counters into an arm bar.
Kushida puts him in the ring and goes to the top rope for a diving axe handle. Kushida takes him down and kicks him. Kushida hits an over-the-shoulder arm breaker. Cole charges, but Kushida sidesteps him. Kushida hits a handspring kick to knock him to the floor. Cole avoids a baseball slide and takes him down at ringside.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Kushida hit a handspring back elbow. Kushida kicks him in the midsection. Cole sidesteps a boot, but Kushida manages to take him down again. Cole rolls to the apron to recover. Cole blocks a turnbuckle shot and knees him back. Cole climbs to the top rope, but Kushida kicks him in the head with a handspring heel kick. Kushida goes to the top rope and grabs the arm, but Cole strikes him off. Kushida leaps up and hits an avalanche DDT before immediately going to the arm bar! Cole quickly gets his foot on the ropes to break the hold.
Kushida dropkicks the arm, but Cole soon elbows him back. Kushida ducks an enzuigiri and kicks him in the head. Cole quickly throws him off and hits a shining wizard for a near fall. Kushida and Cole exchange strikes. Kushida hits a right hand to the face, but Cole quickly responds with a pair of ushigoroshis for a near fall. Cole pulls the knee pad down, but Kushida avoids a Last Shot. Cole quickly superkicks him for a near fall. Cole goes to the second rope and goes for a Panama Sunrise, but Kushida counters into a Hoverboard Lock! Cole tries to roll out, but Kushida keeps the hold applied. Cole counters into a roll-up for a near fall to get out. They trade pins and two counts. Kushida hits an overhead kick before trying for a whip, but Cole holds the top rope. Kushida kicks Cole in the face a few times. Cole superkicks him trying a handspring back elbow, but he can only pick up a two count. Cole connects with the Last Shot for the win.

Tommaso Ciampa’s music hits, and the #1 contender slowly walks out to the ring. Ciampa gets in the ring and walks around NXT Champion Adam Cole. Cole holds up the title, and Ciampa says, “At NXT TakeOver: Portland, I take my life back.” Cole says, “Over my dead body.”
