WWE NXT – “Takeover: The End”

The WWE NXT “Takeover: The End” Kickoff pre-show opens with Renee Young, Lita and Corey Graves live from Full Sail University. They go over tonight’s card. They go to Mike Rome and Cathy Kelley outside with fans. They hype the show and Triple H‘s post-show Facebook Live video. They lead us to a video for tonight’s NXT Women’s Title match.
We come back to the panel for discussion on Nia Jax vs. Asuka. Graves picks Nia Jax and Lita goes with Asuka. We also get hype for the debut of Andrade “Cien” Almas and Austin Aries vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. Graves and Lita both pick Nakamura to win. We see video from earlier today of NXT Champion Samoa Joe arriving. We take another break and come back to a promo for tonight’s NXT Tag Team Title match. We go back to The Revival and Andrea DiMarco. They are confident in taking back the titles tonight. Graves believes American Alpha will retain.
We get a video for tonight’s steel cage main event and go back to the panel. Graves says this will not end well for Balor. Lita says never being in a cage match could be an advantage for Balor. Graves predicts tonight will be the end of Balor in NXT but Lita believes Joe’s title reign will end tonight. That’s it for the pre-show.
– WWE NXT “Takeover: The End” opens with a video package. Tonight, the beginning will end and the end will begin. A new chapter begins, new opportunity awaits. Tonight, the end is here. The end of the beginning.
– We’re live from Full Sail University with Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.
Tye Dillinger vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
We go to the ring and out comes Tye Dillinger to a pop.
Andrade “Cien” Almas, the former La Sombra, makes his way out next. Some fans chant for Dillinger as they lock up and trade holds. They lock up again and go back to the mat. More back and forth until they run the ropes. Almas with a dropkick. Almas sends Dillinger to the floor to regroup. Almas poses on the top rope for a pop. Dillinger makes his way back in. More back and forth until Dillinger catches Almas in a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for a 1 count.
The Revival end up turning it around and beating Gable down in the corner. Dawson tags in for a double team move and covers for a 2 count. Gable eventually makes another comeback but Dawson stops a tag with a spinebuster. Dawson for a 2 count. Lots more back and forth, near falls. The finish sees Gable put Dawson in the ankle lock but Dash nails him from the floor with an uppercut. Dawson rolls Gable up for a close 2 count. Dash tags in and they go for a double team out of the corner but Gable counters with a belly to belly on Dawson for a 2 count as Dash breaks the pin. The end sees The Revival hit a Shatter Machine for the win and the titles.
Winners and New NXT Tag Team Champions: The Revival
– After the match, The Revival celebrates and leaves with the titles. Gable and Jordan stand up in the ring but are attacked by “Authors of Pain” Sunny Dhinsa and Gzim Selmani. They destroy Gable and Jordan but fans don’t seem into them. WWE Hall of Famer Paul Ellering appears at the entrance and fans chant “who are you?” as Gzim and Dhinsa finish the attack. They leave and it appears Ellering is managing them.
– We get a video package for the next match.
Austin Aries vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
We go to the ring and out comes Austin Aries with his ribs taped up. Shinsuke Nakamura is out next to a pop.
They meet in the middle of the ring and fans go wild with dueling chants. Lots of back and forth to start. Nakamura blocks a Last Chancery early on. Nakamura works on the ribs with knees as fans sing his theme song. Nakamura takes Aries down and drops a knee. Aries ends up turning it around and taking out the knee, then punishing Nakamura with kicks. Aries with more offense on the knee now. Aries with a 1 count. Aries keeps control and goes for a senton from the apron but Nakamura gets knees up. They trade shots and Nakamura runs into an elbow in the corner. Aries goes up top and drops a big elbow for a 2 count.
Aries keeps control and keeps Nakamura grounded in a submission. Fans sing his theme again. Nakamura tries to fight out but Aries decks him. Nakamura manages to drop Aries with a kick. They trade shots and Nakamura drops Aries. Nakamura with several kicks. Nakamura with knees in the corner now. Nakamura with a running knee to the gut with Aries laying on the top. Nakamura with a 2 count. Aries takes back control but Nakamura fights him. Aries knocks Nakamura to the floor with a big shot to the jaw. Aries runs the ropes and nails a dive to the floor. Aries brings it back in for a 2 count.
Nakamura ends up getting the triangle applied but Aries quickly gets his leg on the bottom rope. Nakamura with big knees to the neck. Nakamura plants Aries and waits for him to get up. Nakamura misses the Kinshasa and Aries gets Last Chancery applied. It’s broken and fans chant for both men. Nakamura kicks Aries into the corner but runs into a kick. Aries sends Nakamura flying and nails a dropkick in the corner. Aries goes up top but misses a 450 and rolls through. Aries blocks Nakamura and counters from the apron. Nakamura is brought to the apron and they trade shots there. Nakamura with an enziguri on the apron but Aries is still standing. Nakamura charges and Aries catches him, driving him into the apron. Fans chant “holy shit” as Nakamura falls to the floor.
Aries dives out of the ring but hits the barrier instead. They bring it back in and Nakamura nails a knee from the corner. Nakamura with the reverse exploder and another Kinshasa for the win.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
– After the match, Nakamura stands tall and plays to the crowd as we go to replays.
– They show the same video of Samoa Joe arriving earlier.
– We get a video package for tonight’s Women’s Title match.
NXT Women’s Title Match: Nia Jax vs. Asuka
We go to the ring and out first comes Nia Jax. NXT Women’s Champion Asuka is out next.
Asuka with strikes and the hip attack for a 2 count. Jax ends up powerbombing Asuka to the mat for a close 2 count. Asuka with an armbar out of nowhere. Jax fights off the Asuka Lock and keeps up on her feet. Asuka with a big kick to the head. And another to bring Jax to one knee. A third kick and a running shot brings Jax down and Asuka covers for the pin.
Winner: Asuka
– After the match, Jax recovers and Asuka gets her gold as we go to replays. We see a trainer checking on Jax in the corner as Asuka makes her exit.
– We see video from earlier today where NXT General Manager William Regal is backstage with Andrea. Bobby Roode walks by and Regal goes to speak with him.
– We get a video for tonight’s main event and see the steel cage hanging above the ring.
Steel Cage Match for the NXT Title: Finn Balor vs. Samoa Joe
Neville is ringside for tonight’s main event. We go to the cage and out first comes Demon Finn Balor to a pop. NXT Champion Samoa Joe is out next. We get formal introductions from Hamilton.
Back and forth to start the first-ever NXT cage match. Joe goes for the door early on. Balor makes a comeback with some offense but Joe is the first to use the cage as a weapon as he launches Balor into the steel. Joe with strikes and an enziguri in the corner. Joe with more shots in the corner. Joe with boots to the face. Joe eventually goes to the door but Balor grabs his leg. They trade strikes in the corner but Balor unloads and kicks Joe in the head. Balor crawls out but Joe holds onto him. Joe pulls Balor back in and the door is shut. Joe with a German suplex for a 2 count. Joe climbs the cage now. Balor grabs his leg and then climbs up. Joe gets sent to the mat and Balor tumbles between the cage and the ropes after an enziguri from Joe. Joe with a 2 count.
Joe keeps control and charges while Balor is in the ropes but he moves and Joe hits the steel. Balor keeps sending Joe into the steel but Joe counters. Balor avoids a clutch and knocks Joe into the steel again. Balor climbs up, using Joe’s body, and tries to escape the cage. Joe brings him back in but Balor kicks him in the face. They both end up on the mat and Balor gets crotched. Joe plants Balor but has the Musclebuster blocked with a roll up for 2. They trade forearms in the middle of the cage now. Balor drops Joe with a Pelé kick.
They both end up on the top trading shots again. Balor brings them both down with a Slingblade. Balor with a 2 count. Balor with another Slingblade. Balor misses the dropkick in the corner and Joe hits a senton. Joe nails the Musclebuster but Balor kicks out at 2. Joe says he’s going to end Balor. Joe with kicks. Balor blocks a shot into the cage and sends Joe in twice. Balor with another Slingblade. Balor dropkicks Joe into the corner. Balor with another corner dropkick and that one brings Joe to the mat. Balor goes to the top and hits a Coup de Grace for a close 2 count. Joe blocks the 1916 and gets the Coquina clutch applied. Balor eventually breaks it and barely hits a double stomp. Balor climbs up the cage and kicks Joe away. Balor gets to the top but Joe climbs up to him. Joe brings Balor back over and hits a second rope Musclebuster for the win.
Winner: Samoa Joe
– After the match, Joe’s music hits but both men are laid out. We go to replays. We come back and Joe clutches his title as the cage is raised. Joe gets to his feet and raises the belt as officials and trainers check on Balor. Joe makes his exit and looks back at the cage as we go to more replays. Joe stops and raises the title at the entrance as Balor is still being checked on by trainers. Takeover goes off the air with Joe heading backstage with his title as Balor tries to recover in the ring.
