Welcome to coverage of the latest NXT special on the WWE Network. This month’s special is NXT Takeover: Unstoppable. In addition to following the live coverage, make sure to check out Mike Johnson’s blog of the show.
We start off with comments from many different wrestlers and fans about what NXT means to them.
We are in Winter Park, Florida and your announcers are Rich Brennan, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton.
We see the footage that aired earlier on the Kickoff Show and we are given an update that Itami suffered a torn rotator cuff.
Match Number One: Number One Contender’s Match: Finn Balor versus Tyler Breeze
They lock up and Balor with a side head lock. Balor with a shoulder tackle and he gets a near fall. Breeze gets to his feet. Breeze tries to stay away from Balor but Balor grabs the leg and applies a waist lock. Breeze with a side head lock and shoulder tackle followed by a near fall. Breeze with a side headlock.
Breeze with another shoulder tackle but Balor escapes a cover. Breeze with a side head lock followed by a take down. Balor with a drop kick and Breeze rolls to the floor. Balor sets for a dive to the floor but Breeze gets back into the ring and Balor with forearms followed by a chop. Balor sends Breeze into the turnbuckles. Breeze with an Irish whip but Balor goes to the apron when Breeze charges at him.
Balor misses a chop and Breeze knocks Balor off the apron with a springboard drop kick. Balor gets back into the ring and Breeze kicks Balor. Breeze sends Balor into the turnbuckles and he kicks him. Balor with punches but Breeze with a neck breaker for a near fall. Breeze kicks Balor and chokes him in the corner. Breeze with a snap mare and leg drop for a near fall. Breeze returns to the reverse chin lock.
Balor gets to his feet but Breeze pulls Balor back to the mat. Balor with elbows but Breeze with a knee. Breeze with a sunset flip but Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick. Balor with an Irish whip and a running chop. Balor with a baseball slide and Breeze goes to the floor. Balor goes to the apron and connects with a double stomp to the back.
Balor sends Breeze back into the ring and he goes up top. Breeze rolls to the other side of the ring and Balor goes back to the mat. Balor with another chop and then he sends Breeze into the turnbuckles. Balor with an Irish whip and a running enzuigiri in the corner for a near fall. Balor with a dragon sleeper but Breeze with a snap mare and forearm. Balor with Slingblade and he sets for the running drop kick but Breeze with a super kick for a near fall.
Breeze unties the turnbuckle pad in the corner and the referee warns him. Breeze sends Balor into the corner and he kicks Finn. Breeze with punches and kicks but the referee pulls him out of the corner and warns him. Breeze with a snap mare and he misses the Beauty Shot. Balor misses a double stomp and Breeze with a rollup for a near fall.
Balor sends Breeze into the corner but he stops short of the turnbuckle. Balor with a rollup for a near fall but Breeze kicks out and sends Balor into the exposed turnbuckle followed by the Beauty Shot for a near fall. Balor rolls to the floor while Breeze throws a tantrum.
Breeze goes up the ramp and Balor with a clothesline from the side. Balor climbs the scaffolding above the entrance and he hits a splash onto Breeze. They return to the ring and Balor with the running drop kick. Balor goes up top and hits the Coup de Gras for the three count.
Winner: Finn Balor
We see Kevin Owens watching in the back in a room that only has a monitor. Owens walks away.
We have a video package from the NXT shows that took place last week in Philadelphia and Albany.
Match Number Two: Charlotte and Bayley versus Emma and Dana Brooke
Bayley and Dana start things off. They lock up and Dana sends Bayley to the mat. Bayley picks up Charlotte and tags in Charlotte. Charlotte with a full nelson and she tags in Bayley, who chops Dana and Emma is tagged in. Bayley pushes Emma to the mat and Emma goes to the floor. Bayley follows after and Emma puts Dana in front of her. Bayley with a drop kick through the corner and takes both women down.
Bayley sends Emma back in and Bayley goes to the turnbuckles and Dana distracts Bayley, allowing Emma to pull Bayley off the turnbuckles. Emma gets a near fall. Emma kicks Bayley and slams her head into the mat and gets a near fall. Emma works on the neck. Emma with a knee to the midsection and a forearm to the back.
Dana tags in and she kicks Bayley in the corner. Emma tags back in and she kicks Bayley. Dana tags back in and she kicks Bayley some more. Emma tags back in and sends Bayley into the turnbuckles. Emma tosses Bayley across the ring by the hair. Emma with a cross body into the corner and she gets a near fall. Emma pulls on Bayley’s hair and slaps her in the head. Emma hugs Bayley and punches her.
Emma mocks Bayley’s gestures to the crowd and she wooos at Charlotte. Bayley with a suplex and Dana and Charlotte tag in. Charlotte with chops to Dana. Charlotte with a neck breaker and boot to Dana. Emma tries to interfere but Charlotte sends her to the floor. Dana hits Charlotte from behind and tags in Emma. Charlotte with a cartwheel through a double clothesline and Charlotte with a double DDT. Charlotte gets a near fall on Emma. Emma with an elbow to Charlotte and a boot to Charlotte when she charges into the corner. Emma goes up top and hits a cross body but Charlotte rolls through and she applies the figure four leg lock on Emma.
Charlotte bridges back and Emma signals to Dana but Bayley goes under Charlotte for a belly-to-belly suplex on Dana. Charlotte with Natural Selection on Emma for the three count.
Winners: Charlotte and Bayley
We take a look at Sami Zayn’s challenge of John Cena in Montreal on Raw.
They show the most recent NXT signees, including the man with no NXT name, but a number of video packages.
Match Number Three: Rhyno versus Baron Corbin
They lock up and Baron pushes Rhyno away. They lock up and Rhyno with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Corbin with a kick and punch. Rhyno sends Corbin to the floor and Corbin returns to the ring. Rhyno with a kick and clothesline that sends Corbin over the top rope to the floor. Rhyno goes to the floor and he connects with forearms. Rhyno sends Corbin back into the ring and Corbin with a punch.
Corbin with an Irish whip but Rhyno with an elbow. Rhyno goes to the turnbuckles but Corbin knocks Rhyno off the turnbuckles to the floor. Corbin sends Rhyno into the apron. Corbin sends Rhyno back into the ring and he kicks Rhyno in the ribs. Corbin with a hard Irish whip to Rhyno. Corbin with another hard Irish whip to Rhyno and he gets a near fall. Corbin with forearms to Rhyno. Corbin misses a splash into the corner.
Rhyno with punches but Corbin sends Rhyno into the corner and he kicks and punches Rhyno while the referee warns him. Corbin sends Rhyno to the mat and he waits for Rhyno to get up. Corbin goes to the floor and he punches Rhyno in the head. Corbin returns to the ring and he gets a near fall. Corbin with a key lock but Rhyno with punches.
Corbin with an Irish whip but both men bump heads and both men go down. They both get up at eight and Rhyno with a punch but they go back and forth. Rhyno with the advantage and a back elbow and clothesline. Rhyno with an Irish whip and shoulder into the corner. Rhyno tries for the belly-to-belly suplex but Corbin with head butts and a kick followed by a punch. Rhyno with a spinebuster and he gets a near fall.
Rhyno with a belly-to-belly suplex and Rhyno sets for the GORE. Rhyno charges at Corbin but Corbin with a clothesline followed by End of Days for the three count.
Winner: Baron Corbin
We take a look at Kevin Steen’s appearance on Raw.
Greg Hamilton stops Kevin Owens and apologizes for bothering him and he asks about his busy week. Kevin asks if Greg is talking about NXT taking over Philadelphia and Albany when he had three successful title defenses. Maybe you are talking about Monday night when he dropped John Cena where he stood for taking credit for injuring Sami Zayn. Kevin says that he showed that the NXT Title is a prize. Tonight will be the culmination of that week. If you think Sami is taking this away from him and his family, he has some veteran advice. Don’t show up because it will be the last time you will see (and Kevin does the You Can’t See Me Gesture), Sami Zayn.
Match Number Four: NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy versus Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella)
Enzo and Blake start things off. They lock up and Enzo gets away from Blake. Enzo with a rollup for a near fall. Enzo with a cross body for a near fall. Enzo with a standing drop kick to Blake for a near fall. Enzo with a side head lock but Blake keeps Enzo from making the tag. Murphy tags in and Cassady is able to tag in.
Murphy does not know what to do with Cassady in the ring. Murphy with a chop but Cassady wipes it off. Murphy with another chop and he wipes it off. Cassady sends Murphy into the corner but Murphy with a kick. Cassady with a biel and punch to Murphy. Cassady with a near fall. Enzo tags back in and he is sent into the corner by Cassady. Enzo goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.
Enzo goes to the apron and he punches Blake and gives Murphy a shoulder. Murphy with a clothesline and it knocks Enzo off the apron. Blake gets a near fall. Blake with a back breaker and he applies a rear chin lock. Blake sends Enzo to the mat and he tags Murphy back in. They punch Enzo and Murphy stands between Enzo and his corner. Murphy with a snap mare and reverse chin lock.
Murphy pulls Enzo back to the mat by the hair. Murphy sends Enzo into the corner and he kicks him. Murphy goes for a shoulder into the corner but Enzo moves and Murphy hits the ring post shoulder first. Blake tags in and he hits an elbow drop to the back to stop Enzo. Blake with an abdominal stretch on Enzo. Enzo with a rollup for a near fall. Blake stops Enzo for a moment but Enzo with an elbow. Murphy tags in and he knocks Cassady off the apron.
They hit a power bomb and lungblower combination on Enzo but they can only get a near fall. Murphy puts Enzo on the turnbuckles for a superplex but Enzo blocks it. Enzo knocks Murphy off the turnbuckles and Enzo comes off the turnbuckles and hits a DDT. Both men are down.
Blake tags in and so does Cassady. Cassady with shoulder tackles followed by a splash. Cassady with a series of boots to Blake and Murphy. Cassady with a leaping elbow drop for a near fall when Murphy breaks up the cover. Cassady with a clothesline to Murphy and a side slam to Blake. Enzo tags in and they set for the Rocket Launcher.
Alexa Bliss attacks Carmella and Cassady goes to see what is going on. Murphy with a super kick to Cassady on the floor. Alexa pushes Enzo off the turnbuckles and Blake gets the three count.
Winners: Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy

Match Number Five: NXT Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks versus Becky Lynch
They lock up and Sasha backs Becky into the corner and punches her until the referee pulls her out of the corner. Becky with a hammer lock but Sasha with an elbow. Becky with a drop toe hold and roll up for a near fall. They alternate near falls with each trying for a backslide. Becky tries for an O’Connor Roll but Sasha holds on to the ropes so Becky with a rollup for a near fall.
Becky with a wrist lock and Sasha sends Becky to the mat and gets a near fall but Becky bridges out. Becky avoids a Thesz Press and Becky goes for the arm bar submission but Sasha gets into the ropes.
Becky continues to work on the arm and connects with a series of arm drags. Sasha backs Becky into the corner and connects with a forearm. Becky with a double jump side kick that sends Sasha to the floor. Becky goes to the apron but Sasha with an arm wringer that sends Becky onto the apron and she falls to the floor.
Sasha sends Becky into the ring post. Becky is rolled back into the ring and Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha has Becky in the ropes and she mocks her pose. Sasha wraps the arm in the ropes and then she mocks Becky’s posing in the ropes. Becky with an inside cradle for a near fall. Becky with a punch but Sasha with a running cross arm clothesline for a near fall. Sasha with a Japanese Stranglehold.
Sasha with a lungblower and she continues with the Japanese Stranglehold. Sasha slams Becky’s face into the mat and Becky refuses to give up. Becky gets to her feet and she backs Sasha into the corner but Sasha holds on to the choke. Becky tries for a third one but Sasha knows what is coming so she sends Becky into the turnbuckles.
Sasha tries to put Becky in the ropes but she cannot avoid the double knee drop but this time it is to the arm. Sasha gets a near fall. Sasha manipulates the arm in a position that most arms do not go without breaking. Sasha stands on the arm and then gets a near fall. Becky with a wrist lock submission. Becky gets to her feet and she is able to get a near fall. Becky with a short arm scissors.
Becky rolls though to get a near fall but Sasha holds on to the short arm scissors. Becky rolls through and gets a near fall and then she picks up Sasha and hits a back drop driver. Both women are down. Becky with a European uppercut followed by a clothesline and drop kick. Sasha sends Becky to the apron but Becky sends Sasha into the turnbuckle.
Becky with a missile drop kick and she gets a near fall. Becky prepares to work on the arm but Sasha with a forearm. Sasha with an arm drag using the ropes for extra leverage. Sasha with a running double knee strike followed by a second one and she gets a near fall. Sasha gets another near fall. Sasha shows some frustration over not being able to finish off Becky.
Sasha says something to Becky and she slaps Becky but Becky punches back. Sasha goes for the arm but Sasha is sent to the floor. Becky follows and they fight on the floor. Becky pulls Sasha shoulder first into the ring post. Becky continues to work on the arm and they get back into the ring. Becky with a hammer lock suplex and Becky follows with a leg drop to the arm. Becky works on the arm but Becky with a wrist clutch German suplex for a near fall.
Becky tries for a pump handle move but Sasha escapes and she kicks Becky. Sasha tries for a suplex but Becky blocks it. Becky rolls through and applies the arm bar submission. Sasha tries to get to the ropes and she gets to the ropes, forcing Becky to release the hold.
The referee holds Becky back and Sasha sends Becky to the floor when the referee lets Becky go. Sasha with a suicide dive but Becky catches Sasha and she runs Sasha shoulder first into the ring steps. Becky rolls Sasha back into the ring and then she goes to the turnbuckles but Sasha with a super Divorce Court into the Bank Statement and Becky taps out.
Winner: Sasha Banks
Match Number Six: NXT Heavyweight Championship Match: Kevin Owens versus Sami Zayn
The bell rings and Owens goes to the floor to frustrate Zayn, the referee, and the fans. Zayn goes to the floor and he hits a forearm off the steps and he punches Owens. Owens and Zayn exchange punches on the floor. Zayn with punches and Owens rolls into the ring. Owens with a punch and forearm to Zayn.
Zayn clotheslines Owens over the top rope to the floor. Zayn follows but Owens with a kick and he sets for a powerbomb but Zayn with a back body drop. Zayn punches Owens as they fight on the ring steps. Zayn with forearms as they return to the ring and Owens with punches and forearms. Owens sends Zayn to the floor but Zayn pulls Owens to the floor and he sends Owens into the ring steps.
Zayn sends Owens into the other ring steps. Owens punches Zayn and he rolls back into the ring to stop the count. They go back to the floor and Zayn with forearms and Owens falls over the guardrails. Zayn goes into the crowd as well. Zayn and Owens fight towards the lobby. Zayn holds on to the bleachers to block a power bomb. Zayn back drops Owens over the guardrails and back into the ringside area.
Zayn with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Zayn wants Owens to get up. Zayn with a waist lock and Owens with elbows but Zayn holds on. Zayn with a half nelson German suplex and he gets a near fall. Zayn with a wrist lock and Zayn tries for a tornado DDT but Owens counters into a uranage. Owens misses the cannonball when Zayn moves. Zayn with the exploder into the turnbuckles.
Zayn sets for the Helluva Kick but Owens goes to the floor. Zayn goes to the floor and Zayn with a head and arm German suplex but Owens catches Zayn with a pop-up power bomb onto the apron.
Officials check on Zayn while Owens gets back into the ring. Owens goes back to the floor and he punches Zayn. The officials hold Owens back. Owens does not care and he continues the assault on Zayn. The medical staff checks on Zayn. Owens with more kicks to Zayn and more officials hold Owens back while more officials check on Zayn.
Owens kicks Zayn in the head while officials check on Zayn’s shoulder. Owens puts Zayn against the ring steps and he punches and kicks Zayn. Owens puts Zayn on the apron and pulls him back into the ring while referees stand around Owens and Zayn begging that he doesn’t do anything else.
William Regal comes out and he berates Owens and gives him a talking to. Owens leaves the ring but he comes back in. Regal grabs Owens by the face and Owens with a head butt that sends Regal to the floor. Owens grabs a chair and brings it into the ring. Some of the referees leave.
Music plays and Samoa Joe makes his way into the arena.
Joe gets into the ring and he gets face to face with Owens.
Owens backs up and Joe gets in his face again. Owens leaves the ring.
Winner: No Contest
Joe stands in the ring while officials continue to check on Zayn.
Owens comes back down the ramp and Joe wants a fight but Owens is done for the night.
We go to credits.
