Jason Jordan and Chad Gable vs. Steve Cutler and Elias Sampson
Jordan schools Cutler with an amateur hold, then tags in his partner after some light “we want Gable” chants. Gable starts in with some shoot-style wrestling grapples and holds. The heels try to double team him momentarily, but Jordan comes in and breaks it up. They pull of a tag team maneuver with Jordan throwing Sampson into the air and Gable catching him with a back suplex into a bridge pin for the 1-2-3.
Winners: Jason Jordan and Chad Gable
Samoa Joe vs. Axle Tischer
Tischer tries to throw some right hands at the Samoan – yeah, good luck with that. Joe takes him straight to the corner and fires off with a fury of punches. Atomic drop, running big boot, senton splash. Tischer dodges a splash in the corner but runs into the S-T-Joe, followed by the Muscle Buster into a rear naked choke for the easy submission win.
Winners: Samoa Joe
-They roll a video package for Baron Corbin, focusing on his time in non-wrestling sports. He shows off his four college football conference championship rings, and talks about being in the NFL and being trained in martial arts. Not a bad video.
–Eva Marie comes down to the ramp and announces that she’ll be making her NXT in-ring debut next week. She tells the fans to get their signs and their “little horns” ready (what?) because “All Red Everything” is coming to NXT. Watching Corey Graves pretending to be excited about this with Byron Saxton – they actually high-fived – is pretty disgusting.
Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton
Another shot tag team match. The champions work over Dawkins for most of the match – only a few minutes long – using the quick tags and numbers game . Fulton makes the tag and they briefly build some momentum, but Alexa Bliss causes a distraction and they hit the suplex/frog splash finisher combo for the win. After the match, Bliss commands them to the go back after them, and the champs beat them down even further, ending with Bliss actually hitting the Spark Splash on Dawkins.
Winners: Blake and Murphy
-Sami Zayn makes his return to NXT dressed in so much black-and-yellow he looks like Hideo Itami making his entrance. He thanks the fans for all the support they’ve shown him over the last couple months, but unfortunately will be out of action for quite some time. He won’t be back this year. Sami says that time heals all wounds, and this wound will heal, and when it does he’s coming for Kevin Owens’ ass.
-They roll footage of last week’s San Diego Comic-Con, where William Regal officially announced the rematch between Owens and Balor at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.
NXT Women’s Championship Match
Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte
A slow-paced start as they really put over how both women know everything about each other, and how hard it is to gain any sort of advantage . Lots of pinning combinations. Sasha eventually gets ahead and connects with the double knees in the ropes for two. The slow breakdown of the challenger starts now with a few minutes of rest holds, leading up to the choke hold using her hair and hands. Banks puts her in headscissors choke and eventually Charlotte gets the crowd behind her and dead-lifts the champ into a powerbomb to break the hold. Huge lariat for two-and-a-half. She tries for a vertical suplex but Sasha turns it into a nice backslide pin for a nearfall, then transitions into a neckbreaker for two. We get a scramble for submission holds as they both go for their signatures and transition a half dozen times. Charlotte fully locks in the Figure Four and Banks rips out a huge chunk of her hair extensions! Sasha manages to get to the ropes and drop to the floor, but Charlotte holds onto the submission until the referee physically forces her to break it up. Banks with a roll-up for a very close nearfall. Bank Statement hits out of nowhere, Charlotte tries to roll it over into a pin, but is forced to tap out. Great match.
Winner: Sasha Banks (still champion)
An emotional Sasha and Charlotte hug it out after the match.
