WWE Smackdown Live kicks off with a video message from Shane McMahon. He says he will not be a part of Smackdown Live tonight. Shane says he’s angry about it and we have Kevin Owens to blame for that. Because for the last several weeks, Kevin has violently attacked him for no reason. Shane says at Summerslam, Kevin’s career is over and the announcer will hand over the microphone over to Kevin and he will look Shane in the eye and say “Shane, you’re the better man and I quit”.
Back in the arena, it’s Kevin Owens making his way down to the ring. We see clips of last week’s Smackdown Live main event where it was Kevin Owens against Roman Reigns. The two ended up attacking Shane McMahon, Elias and Drew McIntyre.
Kevin Owens says not to panic but yes, Shane McMahon is not here tonight and they can all get through it together, Owens says mockingly. Owens says he knows Shane is watching and he wants to re-assure him that him not being here is actually great news because maybe Smackdown Live could be about what it should be about which is the talent. But speaking of Shane, he tells him to make sure that he shows up at Summerslam because it will be one on one in the ring. Owens says he will not quit because he will beat him. But he won’t just beat him, he will beat him so bad that every time he will look in the mirror, he will no without a shadow of a doubt that he doesn’t belong in the ring with people like him.
But the thing is that even after the beating, Shane might keep showing up and sadly no one can stop him from doing so but one thing he can do is when he does show up, he will know it’s not his ring or show. This is the Kevin Owens show.
Drew McIntyre’s song hits and out he comes to the ring. He gets in Kevin’s face and tells him he talks too much. What Shane didn’t mention is that tonight it will be Kevin Owens against Drew McIntyre as McIntyre hits Kevin. He falls to the outside and Drew throws him into the ring post and over the announce desk. Drew grabs a microphone and says that the match is now.
