WWE Smackdown Live kicks off with footage from last week involving Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon.
Live in the arena, Big E and Xavier Woods are on commentary. Shane McMahon’s music hits and he comes out. Shane says last night at the Raw reunion, it was good to see old friends and faces. But one face he was happy not to see was that of Kevin Owens. He mentions that Kevin was hiding behind social media. Shane mentions that Kevin challenged him to a match at Summerslam and thinking about it, Summerslam wouldn’t be complete without the best in the world competing in it. Shane accepts Kevin’s challenge. Kevin mentioned that if he doesn’t win that match, he will quit.
Shane says that we have heard those words from Kevin before and just about a year ago as well. We see footage of last August where Owens lost a match against Seth Rollins. Owens sat in the ring and said he quits.
Back in the ring, Shane says it’s typical Kevin Owens, he just quits. Shane says after he beats Kevin, he will quit but this time, he wants it in writing. Kevin’s music hits and out comes Owens to the stage.
Kevin Owens says that he would never have said that Shane was smart but he is and he proved it by showing that footage. Kevin says that was the lowest point of his career but that was the broken down version of himself. And that is not who he is today. And he knew that if he put out the challenge that Shane would accept. Owens says he knows Shane loves that spotlight and it doesn’t get any brighter than this year’s Summerslam in Toronto. The only problem for Shane is that he will not quit. And the reason is because at Summerslam, he will beat the living hell out of Shane. Kevin approaches the ring as Shane cuts him off. Shane says if Kevin gets closer, he will not get his match at Summerslam.
McMahon says Kevin is fired up and maybe he should fight tonight. McMahon ssays it will be Kevin Owens against Roman Reigns.

Miz TV – The Miz with Shawn Michaels
The Miz welcomes everyone to Miz TV. He promotes his reality shows and they show footage of last night’s Raw. Miz introduces Shawn Michaels to the ring. Woods and Big E are singing and dancing at ringside.
A loud “HBK” chant from the crowd. The Miz says last night, some superstars loved interacting with the legends while other saw it as an opportunity being taken away. Shawn says he’s been on both sides of it. But like Austin said, they are all like family and when they get the chance to get together, it’s hard to turn down. Another loud “HBK” chant.
Shawn says speaking of the Raw reunion, they sort of inducted an honorary member into DX and the Kliq. Seth Rollins was out there with them and it was cool to see him go from PC, NXT to WWE. And like he said, going to Summerslam to face Brock Lesnar… he has every intention of burning it down.
Dolph Ziggler’s music hits and he interrupts. He says enough with these so called legends. If he ever ends up being just happy to be there, to put him out of his misery. Ziggler says he’s happy Shawn is there, they all use to idolize him. Shawn had a chance to write his ticket and go off in the sunset as the greatest performer of all time. And what did he do? Every single chance he got, he shuffled back out to the ring and waived to the crowd. Ziggler says it’s as embarrassing as the legends in the ring and as embarrassing as Goldberg in the ring. Ziggler says last November when Shawn came back to the ring, he broke his heart. He will tell him something no one has the guts to say. He was embarrassing.
Shawn says he’ll admit it. He will not disagree with Ziggler, it was embarrassing. He was embarrassed. But what’s more embarrassing is working your whole career and still left with nothing except being known as the second rate Shawn Michaels wannabe.
Ziggler says no, there is only one second rate Shawn Michaels out here and he is looking at him. And it’s fitting that he and Miz are out there. They both chose to ruin their legacies to collect a paycheck and waive and kiss ass while people like him made a career… Miz interrupts him and tells him to do something already. Miz is sick and tired of listening to him complain. Miz tells him to do something about it. The fans chant “Do something” as Ziggler takes off his jacket. Kofi Kingston Summerslam Challenge
Kofi Kingston is in the ring and a loud “Kofi” chant. Kofi says “Miami baby”. And he wants to issue a challenge to a man he hopes will be his opponent at Summerslam. And that man is Randy Orton.
A few seconds later, Randy Orton’s music hits and he slowly walks down to the ring. He grabs a microphone and gets in the ring. Kofi says he called him out because they have a little bit of history. He remembers November 16, Madison Square Garden. Everyone chanting his name. And that was the night he beat up Randy Orton all over the arena. They air a clip of their match from 2009 on the big screen.
Kofi says that was supposed to be the moment that he made it to the main event scene but that’s not what happened. The truth is that Orton used his influence to hold him down, to ensure that he would never reach the main event scene. And it almost worked until it didn’t because since that moment, he kept on pushing and believing in himself. And he became what he never wanted him to be which is his WWE world heavyweight champion.
Orton tells Kofi he thinks that he used his influence to hold him back. Orton says he did and he was doing him a favor because Kofi wasn’t ready back then and he’s not ready now. That title is a fluke. Kofi brags about how hard he worked but what about Orton’s 18 years on top. And he never had to work hard because all he had t o do was be Randy Orton. He didn’t have to fake a Jamaican accent, throw pancakes or shake his ass. All he had to do was be him and what you see is what you get. He wins matches, Royal Rumbles and main events Wrestlemania. And that reminds him that this past year at Wrestlemania, it was only because of him that Kofi had a chance at the title. Because he injured Ali at the Elimination Chamber and Kofi took his place. But all this to say that Kofi does not deserve the championship and he can take it away whenever he wants.
Kingston challenges Orton for the title at Summerslam. Orton says “You want it, you got it.” But when it’s all said and done, this 11 year fairy tale comes to an end courtesy of RKO. Orton starts walking to the back.

A Firefly Fun House segment airs. Bray, without the mask, in his red vest is in the room.m He waves at Finn and says Finn is so brave, it’s inspiring. It’s also the reason why Mercy and the rabbit are huge fans of his. But the fiend is not a big fan. He says the fiend is accepting Balor’s challenge at Summerslam. Wyatt says the fiend is an abomination, power, the fiend remembers. “Let me in” as the camera fades to black and we see images of Bray Wyatt as the fiend.
