Also be sure to tune in right after Smackdown for a live Wrestling Inc Podcast with Sean Ross Sapp, Raj Giri and Rob McCarron as we head into Roadblock.
– Miz is in the ring for MizTV, and shows the re-debut of Sami Zayn. He says Zayn looks like Seth Rogen, and cuts off Zayn talking about his early career. He asks Sami about the history with Kevin Owens. Zayn says he and Owens relied on each other and don’t know why Owens turned on him the night he debuted in the WWE. Miz brings out Owens. KO says he did what he did to Zayn wasn’t personal; it was the best business decision for him. He brings up how Zayn started with WWE two years before him, but he made it to Raw a year before Zayn. Zayn says he’s going to win KO’s IC title, and he’ll do it at WrestleMania, but Owens says he doesn’t deserve it. Owens tries to walk off, but Neville cuts him off and says he has unfinished business with KO. Neville says he wants the IC title, and Miz says that he does too. Zayn says Miz’s days of main eventing are behind him, and Miz attacks from behind. Zayn recovers and Miz runs away. This was an excellent opening segment.
Kevin Owens & Miz vs. Sami Zayn & Neville
Zayn completely outwrestles Miz, then both men tag out. Neville lands a short hurricanrana on Owens, who tags Miz to get away from Zayn. Neville lands a nice corkscrew moonsault on Miz, who tags Owens. Neville is dumped to the outside by Miz as we head to a commercial break. We come back to see Neville being worked over in the corner. Miz gets a two count off of a running boot.
Neville finally sends Miz outside the ring and makes the tag to Zayn for repeated clotheslines. Owens jumps off the apron to avoid Zayn, and Sami resumes the beating on Miz. Owens ditches Miz, and Zayn hits the Helluva Kick for the win.
Winner: Sami Zayn & Neville via pinfall (Helluva Kick)
That opening segment got a quarter of the show, which is big for them.
– We see a video from The Rock on Twitter, hyping up WrestleMania.
– Another Golden Truth vignette, the 11th one. This one is in the bathroom with Goldust running out of toilet paper. R-Truth brings him some and Goldust rejects his partnership request.
Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae
Lana joins the commentary team in her Ziggler-era gear. Summer Rae applies a modified Cobra Clutch before tossing Brie aside. Brie comes back with a second rope drop kick and Yes kicks, but she misses Knee Mode. Brie applies the Yes Lock and wins.
Winner: Brie Bella via submission (Yes Lock)
Brie hits Knee Mode after the win, but Lana comes from behind and hits a Bella Buster. Summer looks confused.
– Chris Jericho comes out to the ring with the Y2AJ shirt. He says he’s versatile, creative and durable. He brags about inventing MITB and never being hurt in the WWE, and fans chanting AJ Styles‘ name can go to hell. Jericho says Y2AJ was something special, and AJ and the fans ruined it by chanting for AJ over him, when AJ has had just a cup of coffee in the WWE. Jericho burns an AJ Styles shirt in the ring.
Lucha Dragons vs. League Of Nations (w/ Rusev)
No Del Rio at ringside. Ryback is shown watching backstage. League of Nations work over Kalisto in their corner, with Barrett getting a nice snap suplex. Sheamus ends up getting posted by Kalisto, as Rusev tries to help him up. Sin Cara is tagged in and lands a springboard crossbody and springboard back elbow on Barrett, followed by a suicide dive.
Sin Cara gets a springboard moonsault, but Sheamus breaks up the count. Kalisto is sent over the top onto Sheamus by Sin Cara, and Rusev pushes Sin Cara off the top rope. Wade Barrett hits an honest to god Bull Hammer and pins a man for the first time in months.
Winners: League of Nations via pinfall (Bull Hammer)
Ryback is backstage and says two little men will lose to two big men, and not everyone is created equal.
– The Usos are backstage and say they grew up watching the Dudley Boyz, but they’re grown men with no respect for the Dudley Boyz. Ziggler is there and says there’s always consequences for what he does. Ambrose says tonight they go Wyatt hunting and Saturday he wins the WWE Title.
The Wyatt Family vs. Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler & The Usos
Ambrose controls Harper early, allowing his team to take turns on Luke until Harper turns the tides as we go to our final commercial. We come back to see the Wyatt Family laying a beating down on Dolph Ziggler on their side of the ring, using shortcuts whenever they can. Harper catapults Ziggler into the middle rope, which sends Ziggler outside.
Ziggler comes back with a sunset flip powerbomb and a big DDT. An Uso gets the tag, but runs right into Rowan. Luckily the other Uso is there with a superkick and the tandem hit the hip attack and double dives on Harper and Rowan. Harper gets his knees up on a big splash, and Ambrose is tags in. All hell breaks loose and Ziggler superkicks Strowman twice but gets bulldozed. Strowman is posted after choking an Uso, and Ambrose pins Rowan with Dirty Deeds!
Winners: Dean Ambrose, Usos & Dolph Ziggler via pinfall (Dirty Deeds)
