“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

Still photos are shown of AJ Styles retaining the WWE World Championship over Dean Ambrose in a TLC match this past Sunday after James Ellsworth turned on Ambrose. Ellsworth believes that he has Styles’ number and can defeat him for the WWE World Championship. Ellsworth will face Styles with the title on the line tonight.

AJ Styles talks about his status following an injury

AJ Styles makes his way to the ring in a walking boot. Styles angrily stares at the crowd while they boo him. Styles says he wants to address the elephant in the room. Some call it a travesty and others a blessing. They can be the judge. Styles then has a still photo shown of his ripped tights at TLC and his exposed rear end. Styles laughs about how it looks good. Styles wasn’t talking about his walking boot and calls the crowd gullible. He did everything he said he was going to do at TLC. He bent chairs around Ambrose’s back, put him through tables, and deprived him of getting to his WWE World Championship. If it so happens that he’s stuck in the boot, then so be it. The only negative is that he isn’t medically cleared to defend his WWE World Championship against James Ellsworth tonight.

James Ellsworth’s music plays, and he makes his way to the ring looking confused. Ellsworth dances around Styles like a prize-fighter. Styles asks what he’s doing. Ellsworth makes fun of Styles for being in a boot. Does Styles really need the boot or is it just a convenient way for him to get out of defending the title against him tonight? Maybe Daniel Bryan is protecting Styles. After all, he has Styles’ number. He’s beaten him three times. Ellsworth accuses Styles of ducking him because he was going to beat him a fourth time to become WWE World Champion. If it wasn’t for him, Styles wouldn’t have even won on Sunday. Styles asks if he really believes the outcome had anything to do with Ellsworth. If he wasn’t so delusional, he’d see it. Ellsworth has been drinking his own “chin and tonic.” Everything Ellsworth has is because of Dean Ambrose. Every victory is because of him. Now Ellsworth has burned that bridge and himself. He put Ellsworth in a neck brace and a back brace. Ambrose doesn’t know when to quit. That’s why he’s in the boot. Styles knows when to stop; Ambrose doesn’t. Ambrose is going to cave in Ellsworth’s face like his chin.

Dean Ambrose’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. Ellsworth goes for a handshake, but Ambrose just kicks him in the gut and gives him Dirty Deeds before immediately walking off. Ambrose’s music never stopped. Styles likes what just happened while watching at ringside.

Alexa Bliss will have a Championship Celebration later tonight. Heath Slater and Rhyno are invoking their rematch clause for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles. They’ll face Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt next.

Bray Wyatt appears on the screen along with the rest of his family. Wyatt laughs and says, “We’re here.”

Coming up next, Natalya will take on Carmella. Carmella accused Natalya of being the one to attack Nikki Bella at Survivor Series.

-Commercial Break-

Carmella makes her way to the ring and has something to say before Natalya “waddles” down to the ring. She did lose to Nikki Bella on Sunday, but it wasn’t her that took Nikki out at Survivor Series. She revealed who the culprit really was. Natalya has been bragging non-stop about pulling a “Tanya Harding” on Nikki. Nikki is stealing Natalya’s spotlight since “Total Bellas.” Natalya wishes she was as glamorous, curvaceous, and beautiful as Nikki Bella. Carmella quickly cuts off a “How you doin’” chant. Natalya is always second best. She’s the runner-up to the homecoming queen. The real Natalya has reared her ugly head. She’s jealous and envious. That proves that she’s a deceiving con artist.

Carmella vs. Natalya

Natalya quickly takes Carmella down and punches away at her. The bell hasn’t sounded yet. Carmella slaps her and runs away. Natalya chases her to the back, and it appears we will not have a match. Natalya is seen out of breath backstage before stopping at the sight of Nikki Bella. Natalya says she can’t believe what Carmella said. Nikki takes a deep breath and walks away with a sneer.

Later tonight we’ll see Alexa Bliss’ Championship Celebration. We’ll also see an episode of Miz TV with special guest Dean Ambrose.

Baron Corbin is stopped by one of the many interviewers who all look the same. Corbin says Kalisto is fast, but he’s no different from the others that have gotten in the ring with him. He’s the big man, and they’re the little guys. Kalisto is like a mosquito buzzing around until it lands on him. Then it’s splat.

The Ascension vs. The Hype Bros

The Ascension is shown in a pre-taped promo. They’re the things that go bump in the night. They are comets. Out of the darkness, they will rise. The Hype Bros are also shown. Mojo Rawley says they’re going to “waste these wasteland weirdos.” They’re going after the titles.

Ryder knocks Konnor off the apron, but Viktor quickly knees him down. Konnor pulls him out of the ring and slams him on the floor chest first. Konnor rips at his face and slams him off the apron. Konnor puts him in the ring and picks up a two count. Viktor tags back in, and they punch and kick Ryder down for a two count. Viktor applies a chin lock before dropping a fist. Viktor chokes him on the ropes. Konnor punches Ryder when the referee is distracted. They mock Ryder’s “Woo, woo, woo” before Konnor tags in. Konnor clubs him before going for a suplex, but Ryder lands on his feet and drops him with a neckbreaker. Rawley and Viktor are tagged in. Rawley hits a pair of shoulder blocks before clotheslining him down. Rawley avalanches him in the corner twice before hitting a full nelson slam, but Konnor breaks it up. -Commercial Break-

Alexa Bliss’ Championship Celebration

Alexa Bliss, the new WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion, makes her way to the ring. She poses on the turnbuckle with the championship above her head while a pyrotechnics display goes off behind her. Bliss says, “Ding dong, the witch is champ!” At TLC, she proved that happy endings don’t exist. Bliss says she heard Becky Lynch call her a word that rhymes with “witch.” Bliss then says, “Well this little bitch now runs the whole Smackdown Women’s Division.”

Becky Lynch’s music hits, and she power walks down to the ring. Bliss tells the technicians to turn off her music. Bliss says this is her party. The invitation says, “No losers allowed.” Lynch says she didn’t get the job done on Sunday, but she cannot stand that some selfish, petulant, whiny little girl can be considered the leader of Smackdown Live. It’s one thing to get to the top, but it’s another to stay there. Bliss says she doesn’t care about getting the love and admiration of the WWE Universe. This isn’t the New Era anymore. This is her era. Lynch can call her whatever name she wants, but she will also call her champion. Lynch says she liked what she called her last week a whole lot more. Bliss’ reign begins and ends with her rematch, which she wants right now. Bliss acts like she’s going to go through with it before leaving the ring with the title. The crowd boos while she walks off.
