We go to promos from earlier today, featuring Kevin Owens talking about Sami Zayn and how he better not get in his business when facing Dean Ambrose tonight, Dana Brooke and Charlotte stepping out of a limo before Charlotte says Sasha Banks can’t lace her boots and Dana says lightning won’t strike twice, Miz welcomes Darren Young and Bob Backlund to MizTV later tonight, saying Bob will tell us how he’s going to make Darren Young great again and Miz will tell him why he’s wrong, and Dean Ambrose promising that Kevin Owens’ ego will be shattered, his kneecap battered, and his face splattered all over the mat courtesy of the WWE Champion. With that, we go to an updated Smackdown intro that brings us into a packed arena for the last Smackdown before the WWE Draft! Sasha Banks makes her way out to the ring for the opening match of the night against Dana Brooke, who makes her way out next accompanied by Charlotte. The bell rings, and our opening contest is underway!
Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke
Sasha immediately gets a rollup on Dana for a nearfall. She follows with a backslide that gets the same result, before hitting a sunset flip and a double knee to the face for yet another nearfall. Dana leaves the ring to take a breather, only to be met with a baseball slide from Sasha. Banks turns her attention toward the Women’s Champion, which allows Brooke to hit a chop block before bringing Banks back into the. Brooke with a snapmare before locking in a chinlock. Sasha struggles for a moment, finally getting to her feet only to be taken down with a clothesline by Brooke. Dana puts a boot on Banks for a nearfall before going for a Samoan Driver…but it’s reversed by Sasha for a nearfall! Banks begins to turns things around as she hits a crossbody for the nearfall. Sasha goes for a double knee in the corner, but Brooke avoids it before rolling her up for a nearfall, which itself is reversed by Banks for a nearfall. Charlotte gets up on the apron but is knocked off by Banks, who is rolled up by Dana for a nearfall. Sasha quickly rolls out, locking in the Bank Statement! Dana has no choice but to tap out, giving Sasha Banks the win!

There’s no time to celebrate as Charlotte comes into the ring, taking Banks down with a boot to the face! Charlotte continues the attack, throwing Sasha into the announce table before standing on it to mock the Legit Boss. We get replays of what happened as Charlotte and Dana retreat up the ramp. Commentary takes us back to Monday Night RAW, when Vince McMahon announced Shane McMahon as the Commissioner of Smackdown Live! We see a tweet from Shane O’Mac announcing a deal has been reached with the new GM who will be revealed on Monday Night RAW. Backstage we see Shane talking with Dean Ambrose, before commentary hypes Dolph Ziggler taking on Rusev up next!

Back from commercial, we find out you can do your own fantasy WWE Draft on the WWE website! At ringside, Lana has joined us to introduce the WWE Universe to the “true American hero,” the current and all-time greatest United States Champion, and my fiancé, the Bulgarian Brute Rusev! Rusev makes his way to the ring as we go back to RAW on Monday, when Ryder faced Sheamus before Rusev made a statement in accepting Ryder’s challenge for the US Title! At Battleground it’ll be Ryder looking to become a two-time United States Champion when he takes on Rusev, but tonight the current champion faces the Showoff, Dolph Ziggler! Ziggler makes his way to the ring, and this match is underway!
WWE United States Champion Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler shows some of his amateur prowess early on, but Rusev responds with some powerful stomps in the corner. Ziggler whipped into the corner but fights back, before Rusev catches him with a swinging slam to the mat as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Rusev is still in control before Ziggler begins to fight back with some right hands and kicks. Rusev stops him with a knee to the midsection, but Ziggler goes for a Famouser…only for Rusev to show some more of that power, sending him down hard for a nearfall. Rusev goes for a kick, but Ziggler dodges and locks in a sleeper hold on the champion! Rusev eventually breaks out, but Ziggler hits a DDT and a Famouser for the nearfall. Ziggler gets caught again, this time by a hard slam and a kick to the gut by Rusev who looks to lock Ziggler in the Accolade before…
“WOO WOO WOO, YOU KNOW IT”
Zack Ryder comes out to the ring, distracting Rusev long enough for Ziggler to get back up…but Rusev sends Ziggler out of the ring before leaving, and throws Ziggler right into Ryder! Rusev brings Ziggler and Ryder into the ring, but Ryder gets out of there as Ziggler rolls up Rusev for the win!

Ziggler and Ryder celebrate on the ramp as we get replays, before we see an irate Rusev tearing the turnbuckles off and starting a rampage at the announce table! Commentary hypes a big one on one for later tonight as WWE Champion Dean Ambrose takes on Kevin Owens, as well as a big tag match as Enzo and Cass take on AJ Styles and Karl Anderson of The Club! But up next, we’re going to see what happened when the New Day paid a visit to the Wyatt Family compound!

Back from commercial, commentary takes us to what we saw on Monday night when New Day went to the Wyatt compound. We get highlights of the insanity that went down, primarily the big brawl between the two trios. It ends with the “fireflies” of more of Wyatt’s followers and Bray yelling “Follow the buzzards!” Commentary hypes the New Day taking on The Wyatt Family at Battleground, before The Club comes out to the ring for a tag team affair against Enzo and Cass! This match is up next!

Back from commercial, Enzo and Cass make their way to the ring. Mic in hand, Enzo reminds us his name is Enzo Amore, and he is a certified G and a bonafide stud, and you can’t teach that! This right here is Big Cass, and he’s seven foot tall, and you can’t teach that! Bada boom, realest guys in the room! How you doin’? The Club, I am sick and tired of hearing you say you are too sweet…cause you ain’t foolin’ anybody. Even at the end of the day, salt looks like sugar! Oh, you don’t like that? What do we got here? A cuppa hatas, a cuppa hatas! You guys are looking pretty salty. Cass says the last thing they wanna do is hurt The Club before Battleground, but even though it is last on our list of things to do, it is on our list of things to do, and we don’t have anything else to do…alright, let’s do it. Enzo says they’re gonna get in that ring and hit The Club with a Metamucil haymaker and drop them like a deuce! Cass says they’re gonna prove there’s only one word to describe them, and he’ll spell it out: S-A-W-F-T…SAWWWWFT! Enzo and Cass team with John Cena to take on The Club at Battleground, but this tag match tonight is underway!

AJ Styles & Karl Anderson vs. Enzo & Cass
Cass starts things off clearing the ring of both AJ and Karl, before launching Enzo onto The Club as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Cass is still in control as he tags in Enzo, as AJ tags in Karl. Karl turns things around as he lays into Enzo, tagging in AJ who continues the assault. AJ with a pendulum backbreaker that gets him a nearfall, before tagging Karl back in. Karl drops Enzo down hard before getting another nearfall. Karl with some punches before tagging in AJ, who lays some kicks into Enzo before working the leg. AJ drops a boot into Enzo’s knee before tagging in Karl, who works the leg before getting a nearfall and tagging AJ back in. Enzo is struggling as he fights back, but AJ drops Enzo into the corner and hits a forearm that sends Enzo out of the ring. Karl tries to pick up Enzo, who drives him into the barricade. AJ goes after Enzo, who drops AJ onto the rope before getting into the ring. Enzo goes for a tag but is cut off by Karl, who knees him clear out of the ring. Karl charges at Enzo, who gets out of the way and proceeds to avoid an elbow drop as he looks for the tag. Karl gets the tag to AJ, who stops Enzo from getting a tag…but Enzo drops him with a Tornado DDT! Enzo inches toward Cass as Karl gets into the ring, distracting the ref long enough for Gallows to get involved. Moments later, AJ gets Enzo into the Calf Crusher, and Enzo has no choice but to tap out!

Commentary talks about Brock Lesnar’s return to UFC on Saturday as he took on Mark Hunt, picking up a big win. We get a clip of the post-200 press conference as Brock references his opponent for SummerSlam, Randy Orton! Speaking of Orton, he will be a special guest on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel at Battleground! Commentary hypes the one on one between Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens later tonight!

Back from commercial, Breezeango is in the ring as Tyler Breeze gets ready for a singles match against Kalisto up next! Kalisto makes his way to the ring accompanied by Sin Cara, and this match is underway!
Tyler Breeze vs. Kalisto
Breeze takes Kalisto to the corner, but Kalisto responds with a flurry of offense. Breeze takes advantage of a distraction by Fandango to hit a Supermodel Kick for a nearfall, and covers Kalisto for another one. Breeze looks frustrated as he goes for yet another cover and gets a nearfall. Breeze goes for a suplex, but Kalisto reverses into a nearfall. Breeze with another kick for a nearfall. Breeze taunts Kalisto as he hits a right hand, and continues until Kalisto turns things around with a corkscrew shoulder tackle off the ropes. Breeze takes a kick to the side of the head before dodging another and getting a cover for a nearfall. Kalisto quickly hits a Salida Del Sol for the win!

Maryse tells us to get on our feet for her husband, the sexiest man alive and the Intercontinental Champion, The Miz! Miz welcomes us to the most must-see WWE talk show in history, MizTV! Next Tuesday we will all witness the WWE Draft on Smackdown Live and all witness history! And that brings us to tonight’s guests: one has made history, and the other is still looking for his place in it. Darren Young and WWE Hall of Famer Bob Backlund! Young and Backlund make their way to the ring as we go back to RAW when Darren won the right to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship at Battleground! Commentary hypes that match as we go back to ringside, where Miz thanks them both for being here and puts over Backlund huge. For those of you who don’t know him, let’s look at some WWE Network clips of Bob Backlund! We get a nice video package putting over Backlund’s nearly six year title reign as WWE Champion as well as his efforts to be a role model. A round of applause from everyone for the WWE Hall of Famer before Miz continues, saying Backlund has done it all and is going to instill that wisdom to Darren Young. Let’s look at the career of Darren Young! We get a test pattern, as Miz mocks Darren for having done “nothing” in WWE. Darren assures that with Backlund as his coach he can be a great champion, and at Battleground the only thing I need to do is take that championship from you! Miz points out that Darren didn’t really win the title shot, so much as everyone else lost. Am I right, Mr. Backlund? Backlund tells Darren to look at Miz, because he’ll never be a great champion. Maryse and Miz both start berating Backlund, drawing the ire of Darren Young who says he’s gonna teach Miz a lesson at Battleground when he beats him for the Intercontinental Championship. Miz tells Darren that if he touches his microphone again…Darren grabs the mic again, daring Miz to do something about it. Miz and Maryse just leave the ring and up the ramp as Darren’s music hits. Backstage, Shane McMahon chats with R-Truth as we are reminded that the new Smackdown GM will be revealed this Monday night! Commentary hypes Dean Ambrose taking on Kevin Owens, and that is up next!

Backstage, Sasha Banks is being checked on by trainers when Charlotte and Dana Brooke inform her that they’ve signed a tag match for Battleground. Hopefully Sasha can find a partner in time! Back at ringside, Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring for this big match against Kevin Owens! Commentary hypes the Triple Threat Match at Battleground as Dean is set to defend his title against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, but he takes on Kevin Owens tonight! Owens makes his way out to the ring as commentary hypes his match against Sami Zayn at Battleground, and suddenly Seth Rollins makes his way out to join the announce table as this match is underway!
Non-Title Match
WWE Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens
Owens blindsides Ambrose at the outset, but Ambrose turns things around with some right hands that sends Owens out to take a breather. Ambrose stays right on top of Owens, slamming him into the announce table before turning his attention to Seth Rollins. Owens gets after Ambrose as Rollins attacks the champ from behind, forcing the ref to call for the bell!
Winner via disqualification: Dean Ambrose
Owens and Rollins continue to beat up Ambrose until Sami Zayn comes in, and he helps Ambrose clear the ring of Owens and Rollins as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, we’ve been informed this match is now a tag match as Zayn and Ambrose face Rollins and Owens!
Main Event – Tag Match
WWE Champion Dean Ambrose & Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins
Ambrose drops Rollins off the apron before going to work on Owens. Ambrose leaves the ring to go after Rollins, but gets thrown into the barricade by Owens for his troubles. Owens continues the attack before bringing the champ back into the ring before hitting a right hand and tags in Rollins, who lays into Ambrose with some right hands and kicks. Rollins with a bodyslam now, working a chinlock on Ambrose who gets out only to be dropped back to the mat. Rollins tags in Owens, who boots Ambrose and taunts Zayn before going for a senton…but Ambrose gets out of the way! Rollins misses Ambrose, who tags in Zayn. Zayn drops Owens off the apron before unleashing on Rollins with a Tornado DDT that sends Rollins out of the ring. Owens charges at Zayn, who sends Owens out of the ring before he and Ambrose hit a double dive on Owens and Rollins. Owens pulls the leg of Zayn as he goes into the ring, allowing Rollins to knock him down for a nearfall. Rollins tags in Owens, who goes to work on Zayn as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial, Owens does everything he can to keep Zayn from making a tag to Ambrose as he lays into Zayn with a chop in the corner. Tag to Rollins, who drives his boot into the face of Zayn. Sami fights back, but takes a forearm in the corner from Rollins. Seth taunts the crowd and Ambrose, before walking right into a Michinoku Driver by Zayn! Sami makes the tag to the champ as Rollins tags in Owens, and the Lunatic Fringe is on fire as he lays into Owens in the corner! Owens has Ambrose on his shoulders, but it’s reversed into a Saito Suplex by Ambrose followed by an elbow drop from the turnbuckle for a nearfall. Blind tag from Rollins as Ambrose hits a running bulldog on Owens. Ambrose blocks the efforts of Rollins to hit a swinging neckbreaker, but Owens breaks up the resulting nearfall. Rollins with an enziguri, but is met with a Lunatic Lariat by Ambrose for a nearfall. Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds and it’s reversed into a Pedigree, which is blocked as Zayn gets the tag and a crossbody for the nearfall. Rollins and Zayn exchange holds before Zayn catches Rollins with an exploder suplex into the corner. Owens nearly takes a Helluva Kick but Ambrose goes for a dive, which is blocked as Owens throws the champ into the steel steps while Rollins rolls up Zayn for a nearfall. Zayn misses a Helluva Kick on Rollins, who hits the Pedigree for the win!
Winners via pinfall: Kevin Owens & Seth Rollins
We get replays of the match as Owens continues the assault on Zayn, before Ambrose stops it. The champ turns his attention to Rollins before going into the ring, and both men go at it just a few days before their WWE Championship match on Monday Night RAW. Rollins manages to get out of the ring and regroups with Owens as Ambrose stares him down from the ring. Commentary reminds us of the WWE title match on RAW, as well as Smackdown Live on Tuesday featuring the WWE Draft. Rollins and Ambrose argue from a distance as the show, the last Thursday Night Smackdown, comes to a close.
