WWE SmackDown
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Date: June 27, 2014
Commentators: Michael Cole and JBL
The show kicks off with a video of Daniel Bryan announcing that he has to have neck surgery a month ago. It then goes to The Authority stripping him of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship weeks later. They then booked a ladder match to determine the new champion. John Cena, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro, and Randy Orton will compete in that match.
Triple H is in the ring with Seth Rollins and Randy Orton. Ladders are set up around the ringside area. Triple H welcomes the crowd to Smackdown before saying people sometimes refer to things as eras in this business. There was the Golden Era, the Rock N’ Wrestling Era, the Attitude Era, the Ruthless Aggression Era, and today the Reality Era. He thinks it’s more accurate to say it’s The Authority Era. The Authority is constantly making history. Take this Sunday, for example. At the Money in the Bank PPV, history will be made when eight men compete in a ladder match. He guarantees at the end of the match there will be a brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and that man will be the face of the WWE. Triple H looked right at Randy Orton as he said that. Not only do you get that, you get a traditional Money in the Bank Contract Ladder Match in which one man will climb a ladder and retrieve a contract that allows him to create his own opportunities. Triple H put his arm around Seth Rollins when he said that. Triple H then says if he were a gambling man, he’d say that when Sunday is over, there’s a pretty solid group in the ring. He’s willing to say that the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion and face of the WWE will be none other than Randy Orton. Standing by his side with a briefcase and contract in hand that allows him a championship match any place, any time will be Seth Rollins. Whether the crowd likes it or not, that is what’s best for business.
Randy Orton says Triple H is exactly right because that is what’s best for business. This Sunday at the Money in the Bank PPV, he will ascend that ladder and not only be The Viper and The Apex Predator, but the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the face of the WWE once again. Seth Rollins then says he will climb the ladder, defeat six other superstars, including Dean Ambrose, and he will forge his own destiny when he secures a contract that guarantees him a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match anytime, anywhere. In case things don’t work out, like Triple H said, there’s always a Plan B.
Orton cuts Rollins off and asks him what he thinks could go wrong. Rollins says it’s not unthinkable that Orton might not get the job done again. Orton says what’s not unthinkable is that without Rollins’ Shield guys by his side that he doesn’t whip his ass. Triple H stands between them and says they don’t want to do this in front of everybody, but he understands why there are trust issues. Triple H asks both men why they should trust each other. It’s because he trusts each of them. The reality of it for the two of them is, whether they like it or not, there is one constant in this equation, and it is The Authority. That is not going to change. You can either survive against The Authority or thrive with The Authority. While trust right now might be a little bit of a bitter taste, adapt or perish. Triple H says this is the present and future. It’s the plan and is best for business.
Triple H says they’ll move on. When you see Seth Rollins lately, you see one man: Dean Ambrose. The crowd can get excited because they’re going to see Ambrose in a few moments. Unfortunately for all of them, he’s got some bad news for them.
