“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.
The Smackdown video plays, and we go into the arena to see the MizTV set in the ring. The Miz is in the center of the ring, and he welcomes the crowd to the most must-see WWE talk show in history. Miz says there is a lot to talk about, so he quickly introduces his first guest, the Big Show.
Big Show makes his way to the ring to a great reception. Big Show looks like he is not happy about something as he makes his way to the ring. Michael Cole mentions that people have been questioning why Big Show didn’t get involved to help Daniel Bryan on Monday Night RAW. Miz then introduces his other guest, Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler comes out to the ring to a nice reception, and he seems like he’s in a better mood than Big Show is. Cole mentions how both Ziggler and Big Show have been outspoken about the actions of Randy Orton and the McMahon family.
The Miz says they all have something in common. On last Monday’s RAW, they stood on stage with forty other WWE superstars when this happened. Footage is shown of Daniel Bryan defeating Seth Rollins in the first part of a gauntlet match. Bryan then quickly got Dean Ambrose in a Yes! Lock, but Roman Reigns attacked Bryan. The Shield then attacked Bryan before giving him the Triple Powerbomb at the command of Triple H. Triple H then sent Randy Orton down to the ring to give Bryan an RKO. Triple H stood right by Big Show and Dolph Ziggler and looked them in the eyes as this all happened.
Big Show looks ashamed as he watches the footage. The Miz says they were told that they had to watch the destruction of the number one contender Daniel Bryan. If they interfered in any manner, they would no longer be WWE superstars. Their careers would be made a living hell. Miz says this is a free country, and it’s time that the WWE Universe heard their opinions on the way the management is running WWE. Miz asks Big Show to speak first.
Big Show shakes his head before saying in a gravely voice that watching that was one of the toughest things he ever had to do in his WWE career. Standing there and watching that was hard. Big Show then tells Miz to talk to Ziggler. Ziggler looks upset and ashamed before asking Big Show to finish his thought. Miz says he’s always been outspoken and has been called a big mouth…
Miz doesn’t get to finish his statement as Triple H’s music hits. The WWE COO makes his way to the ring smiling to a chorus of boos. Triple H is coming out to the “King of Kings” song by Motörhead. The three superstars in the ring stand away from him. Triple H says, “Wow, MizTV. This is cool.” Triple H says Miz was going to say something before his music hit that sounded important. Triple H tells him to finish, but Miz says nothing. Triple H says he noticed that usually Miz does this show in a suit, but tonight he’s in his gear. He asks for the reason, and Miz says that you never know when a fight will break out.
Miz says that since Triple H is on MizTV, he wants to ask him a question. Triple H says he may not ask him a question. Triple H has a few questions. He doesn’t understand why everyone wants to make this personal. This is just what’s best for business, but everyone wants to go down the Daniel Bryan road of making it personal. The crowd chants, “You sold out” at Triple H. It’s difficult for the crowd to understand, but he figured the men in the ring would get it. Randy Orton is the future of the WWE. He’s not just some guy that runs his mouth and can’t back it up. Triple H looks at The Miz as he says that. Orton isn’t just some guy who happens to be big as he looks at the Big Show. Triple H then looks at Ziggler before saying Orton is big enough. It’s what makes Orton the best choice. He is the future and the face of the WWE. What’s best for the business sells out arenas, does better ratings, and makes money for everyone. That’s why he figured they would understand that.
Triple H doesn’t understand why they would stand on the stage Monday night and be so angry. Maybe it’s because The Miz, for example, is so angry because he sees the WWE Championship and thinks to himself, “Wow, I had that once a long time ago, and I’ve not gotten anywhere near it since.” That has to be frustrating, and he understands why that would make him mad. Triple H says because he’s a good guy looking out for everyone’s best interests, he’s going to give The Miz a shot at Randy Orton tonight. Triple H says he’s not such a bad guy.
Triple H says to Dolph Ziggler that he looked miserable on Monday. It dawned on him that Ziggler was looking at The Shield, and the last time he was in the ring with them, he got the crap beaten out of him. Triple H says Ziggler probably wants revenge, so he’ll give him an opportunity to get it. Dolph Ziggler will go one-on-one with all three members of The Shield in a handicap match.
That leads him to the Big Show. Triple H tells him to come up to him. Big Show stalls a bit before going over. Triple H says if looks could kill on Monday night… Big Show was so mad you could see smoke coming out of his ears. Triple H is going to do him a favor. He’s giving Big Show the night off. He doesn’t even want Big Show to step foot in the ring. What he wants Big Show to do is go outside, pull up a chair, sit by the announcers and watch what happens in the ring tonight. He wants Big Show to watch every single thing that happens in this ring, and he wants him to do absolutely nothing about it. Big Show looks incredibly angry before Triple H tells him to get in the chair.
Big Show takes his time before turning to leave the ring. The crowd boos. Big Show then leaves the ring and sits in a chair at ringside. Triple H tells Ziggler to go get ready, and he leaves the ring. Triple H says it’s so fortuitous that Miz wore his gear to the ring because his match is now. His opponent is the face and the future of WWE. He is the WWE Champion, Randy Orton.
Randy Orton makes his way to the ring to a massive amount of jeers from the crowd. He’ll face The Miz in a non-title match, next.

Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring. Axel says this past Monday on RAW, the WWE Universe witnessed his mentor and hero, Paul Heyman, perform one of the bravest acts a man can ever muster up the courage to perform. Footage is then shown of Heyman viciously beating CM Punk with a kendo stick on RAW.
Paul Heyman takes the microphone, and he wonders what the crowd wants from him. Do they really expect him to feel guilty about the beating he gave on Monday to his prodigal son CM Punk? He’s not seeking forgiveness. He is not here to atone. He’s not sorry for his actions. The WWE Universe voted him into a situation where he had to face a beating at the hands of CM Punk. What in the world did they expect him to do? Did they think for one second that he would take his beating like a man?
Heyman tells them to think about something. For 434 consecutive days, he and CM Punk were the reigning, defending WWE Champion. Every single one of their opponents and enemies were put down like a rabid dog. His strategy with Punk’s implementation. If every single one of those challengers were put down, why is his still standing and breathing when CM Punk is coming after him? Here’s why. Every single time CM Punk has come up against him, it’s been Punk on his back looking up at his father figure, mentor, and the man whom he should still be worshipping as the god that he is. He’ll give them a reason to boo. At Night of Champions, here we go again. A handicap elimination match. CM Punk versus Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman. This time he can’t escape, and he has to face his beating like a man. This time, WWE virtually guarantees that if you get Night of Champions, Paul Heyman will suffer a beating at the hands of CM Punk.
Heyman will tell Axel the truth – he is afraid. He’s man enough to admit it. He’s scared out of his mind. If Punk gets his hands on him, you’ll never see him again. The crowd cheers that. Heyman says his fear can be CM Punk’s worst enemy. If he did all this to Punk out of fatherly love to put him in his place because he can, imagine what he’s capable of when he’s faced face-to-face with a guaranteed beating. His name is Paul Heyman, and at Night of Champions he, along with Curtis Axel, will own CM Punk.
Daniel Bryan will take on Ryback in tonight’s main event. The Wyatt Family will be out, next.
