Jeff Hardy + World Heavyweight champion C.M. Punk: Jeff Hardy said last week C.M. Punk made a “shocking” revelation. Hardy said Punk keeps bringing up his mistakes like he’s trying to hide behind something. Hardy said everybody makes mistakes and admits that he was suspended twice. Hardy said he hasn’t failed a test in over a year, and has never been to rehab (he always healed himself). Hardy said he would beat C.M. Punk at Night of Champions. C.M. Punk came out wearing his World Heavyweight title. Punk said not failing a drug test in a year is not an accomplishment. Punk said everyone who doesn’t learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat it. Punk said he could have set Hardy straight if he was his high school guidance counsiller. Punk asked Hardy who he thinks he is, and Hardy said he was the NEXT World Heavyweight champion. Punk said a guy like Hardy can never beat him because he is straight edge. Punk said a year from now he will still be champion, while Hardy will fall back into his vices. Hardy apologized for not being as “perfect” as Punk. Punk talked about the sea of kids wearing Jeff Hardy t-shirts. Punk said there was a million kids that would see their hero become just another statistic. Hardy quickly took a shot at Punk and knocked him out of the ring. Punk said he was going to be the bigger man because he has a match coming up next, but that won’t stop him from tearing him apart at Night of Champions.
NON (WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT) TITLE MATCH
John Morrison defeated World Heavyweight champion C.M. Punk: This would be the second victory for John Morrison over C.M. Punk in non-title action. The first time, Punk offered to shake hands with Morrison but then hit him with a Go-To-Sleep! After Morrison beat Punk this time, Morrison extended his hand and Punk disrespected him by backing out of the ring and going backstage..

Layla El + Ricky Ortiz: Layla El was 100% babyface while addressing her hometown fans on the microphone. Layla was wearing Miami Heat cheerleader outfit and did a funky dance as they piped in crowd reaction. Ricky Ortiz interrupted and came out throwing Rally-towels into the audience. Ortiz said the people didn’t want to see Layla dance, they wanted inspiraction. Ortiz asked when was the last time the Miami Heat was any good? Ortiz said Layla’s dancing won’t help, but he was there to personally Rally-up the fans! Ortiz put one of his Rally-towels over Layla’s shoulder and she dropped it on the floor and left.

Kane defeated R-Truth: After the match, the Great Khali (w/Ranjin Singh) confronted Kane. Kane looked like he was ready to rumble with Khali, but R-Truth hit him (Kane) with a Missile Drop-kick, and he quickly retreated when Khali entered the ring! Jim Ross & Todd Grisham + Edge: Edge said he’s been in the business for 17 years and he was a 9-time World Heavyweight champion and a leader in the WWE locker room. Edge said he has had some set-backs along the way but he has always come back because that’s the way he’s wired. Edge took a few deep breaths and said this injury (torn achilles tendon) could be the end of his career. Edge said he has learned that it is the hardest injury to recover from but he will do everything in his power to get back and become champion again! Edge started to answer a question about Chris Jericho, when Jericho’s music played and Jericho interrupted by walking to the ring…
IN THE RING
Chris Jericho & Edge (on screen): Chris Jericho said Edge was making him sick. Jericho said Edge was pathetic, sitting at home looking for sympathy. Jericho said Edge doesn’t care about the Unified Tag Team titles, the WWE, nor does he cares about him. Jericho said he should not be punished because of Edge’s selfish actions, that’s why he will find a partner who is better than Edge and continue his reign as the ruler of the WWE Universe. Jericho talked about Edge’s politicing over the years and said he (Jericho) earned every title that he has ever won. Jericho started to list Edge’s injuries; broken nect, torn pectorial muscle, and now a ruptured achilles tendon. Jericho said Edge was frail and weak. Jericho claimed he hasn’t been injured a day in his life, and said that he was too tough. Jericho said Edge was never in his league, and Edge was the weak link in their team. Jericho said no Edge is gone, possibly forever, and that proves that Jericho is the true face of SmackDown! and the true face of the WWE. Edge said he is the first to admit that he has never been an angel, but he won’t let Jericho play down his accomplishments. Edge said a lot of people may agree with Jericho, but he will use that as his motivation during his recovery. Edge said if he comes back (paused for a moment) WHEN HE COMES BACK, he will prove Chris Jericho and everyone else WRONG!
TAG TEAM MATCH
Jeff Hardy & Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Jericho & Dolph Ziggler by DQ : Right before the bell, World Heavyweight champion C.M. Punk walked down and took a seat at ringside for the match. Late in the match, Jeff Hardy pushed Chris Jericho at Punk, who managed to get out of the way. Punk shoved Jericho into Hardy, who slammed head-first into the ring steps causing the DQ. Rey Mysterio confronted Punk but Dolph Ziggler cheap-shotted him and planted him on the floor! Jericho shoved Hardy back into the ring and hit him with a Code-breaker! Punk stood at ringside watching with an unconcerned perspective. Jericho put Hardy in the Walls of Jericho and Punk slowly walked around the ring and made his exit while watching Hardy get stretched mercilessly by Jericho in the ring.
