WWE Monday Night RAW
Location: Chicago, IL
Date: October 12, 2015
Commentators: Michael Cole, JBL and Byron Saxton
We are live for Monday Night Raw! We see Kane hearing Stephanie McMahon and Triple H from a speaker phone. They are currently at the airport and a day from hell. Kane will be in charge tonight! He even calls a stage manager over to tell Seth Rollins that he has a match tonight and that match will be a lumberjack match, and his opponent is Kane! But which Kane will it be?
We are live from Chicago, Illinois! Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring. Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and JBL talk about what we just saw. Ambrose has a mic, he has some good news. Rumor has it that The Authority is running late tonight. Come on Hunter its 8’oclock eastern standard time, he welcomes us to Monday Night Raw and he has always wanted to do that. But don’t worry, I’m not wearing a tie and am going to bore you on and on, I’m looking for a fight! Wait a minute, here comes Randy Orton!
Orton has a mic; he says Ambrose and we already get RKO chants followed by Randy chants. Ambrose, have I ever told you how much I love Chicago? And after we’re done here I got a four-five hour drive home and I’ll get to sleep in my own bed tonight. While you guys were touring Saudi Arabia last week I dealt with the Wyatt’s, and I heard that at Hell in a Cell, you will be facing Luke Harper and Braun Strowman, and I will be your partner. Dean tells Orton to follow his lead since he has faced the Wyatt’s for years. Orton actually tries to be the voice of reason here, if they want to end the war with the Wyatts, you have to follow my lead. Ambrose says he is not good at taking direction, Orton has the same problem, Ambrose may not trust him, and Orton can’t blame him because sometimes he can’t even trust himself. Boys, boys boys…DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR! CLAP FOR THE GREATEST THING GOING TODAY IN WWE…AND FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL DUH POWWWWWWWWWWWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! The New Day make their way to the ring and we get New Day Rocks Chants! Xavier Woods has the mic and talks about how they pretty much dominated everyone last week. Ya’ll are talking about whatever you are talking about, when you need to talk about The New Day, they talk about how they took out Dolph Ziggler and redefined the term “show off”, the Dudley Boys and turned Dudleyville into a retirement facility! And we took out the crown jewel! John Cena! John we can see you, we saw you down at the hands of the New Day! In one night, The New Day achieved more than any team in history! Now Deano, if my memory serves me correctly, The Shield never did that, Evolution didn’t, The Authority didn’t, Legacy didn’t. Damn Randy, how many groups have you been in? You take new meaning to the word Groupie! It’s out with the old, and in with the New Day! So why don’t you take a page from Derrick Rose and sit on the bench! And bask in the glory of the New Day!
Kane is live from the office and says he is in charge. He has a poster in his office that says if you play with fire, you will get burned. It’s a fire safety poster, but the same principle holds true tonight. New Day, since you think you are the best thing going today, why don’t we prove it, when you face Orton and Ambrose right now!
WWE tag team champions the New Day (Kofi and Big E) vs. Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton in a non-title match
This is totally new because for the first time in a long time we actually start Raw off with a match, Ambrose and Kofi kick things off and already The New Day are on the outside, we cut to break as expected, I knew it was too good to be true!
Orton with a beautiful delayed suplex as we come back. Ambrose tags in and so does Big E, Ambrose with chops, punches, a snapmare, flying clothesline and another one for a two count. Orton tags back in, kicks E in the gut and follows up with a beautiful dropkick for two. E fights back with some punches and clotheslines, he dances and that is enough for Orton to hit a clothesline and tag in Ambrose. Ambrose rams the skull of E into the turnbuckle and follows up with some punches in the corner, going up top now and connecting with a missile dropkick for two! Orton tags back in, stomping his foot, kicking his head in and does the Garvin Stomp! Snapmare and Ambrose himself tags in, doing the Garvin Stomp as well and Orton tags himself back in, Orton continues with the Garvin Stomp and Ambrose does the same. These two need to figure something out, Kofi tags in and both men hit a double elbow, Kofi flies to the outside as we cut to break.
Kofi with a cravat applied as we come back, we see during the commercial the trombone came into play and Big E hit a clothesline. Back to live action as The New Day with constant tags and constant stomps. This is tag team 101 right here! We see the trombone delayed dropkick! Kofi with a springboard stomp, E tags back in and claps along with the trombone and applies an abdominal stretch! Ambrose tries to get the crowd into the match, Orton hits a few headbutts but E with a big clothesline! Orton is on the outside and Xavier kicks Orton while the official was distracted. E goes for a Moose like spear but Orton sidesteps it and E is on the outside! He gets back in and tries to get Randy but Orton kicks him off and here comes Ambrose! Elbow and a running bulldog by Ambrose, he dives onto Kofi and drops the top rope to do a high-low on E, Ambrose with a suicide dive on E, pushing him back into the ring, hitting a Macho Man elbow for two! Bayley to Belly by E! Kofi tags in, going for a frog splash but Ambrose gets out of the way and tags in Orton who hits a powerslam on Kofi! Going for that vintage ropes DDT but Woods grabs the leg, Ambrose takes out Woods, Trouble in Paradise into the vintage ropes DDT! Orton goes for the RKO but Kofi shoves him into Ambrose, who was taking care of E, and rolls him up for the victory!
Winners: The New Day! **** star match. My only complaint for this match is the very small start, going right to break after a small segment is understandable, but we rarely start Raw with a match, so it was kind of a turnoff there. Other than that, this has been one of the better openers of the year.
Kane is waiting behind the speakerphone. Roman Reigns will face a member of the Wyatt Family later tonight, but coming up next we will take a look at the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar on the road to hell!
We learn that “Cut The Cord” by Shinedown is the theme for Hell In A Cell! Michael Cole reads a tweet from Brock Lesnar…think about that, a tweet from Brock Lesnar. I’m not saying the man is a caveman but just hearing the words “Lesnar” and “Twitter” in the same sentence makes me wonder who really controls that account. Nonetheless we look at the at the wars between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker recently, the match where the streak was broken at WrestleMania 30, as well as the controversial finish to SummerSlam a few months ago. We then see Hell In A Cell footage, the road leads to hell in two weeks!
Team Bella make their way to the ring, Nikki even tears her shirt to tell us she is ready for action here tonight. She faces Naomi up next.
Naomi is already in the ring. Sasha Banks is shown and we see footage from the amazing match of the year that was the first ever Iron Woman match from NXT Takeover: Respect between her and Bayley! This is what women’s wrestling should look like in the WWE, but I honestly don’t feel that will happen, hopefully they can prove me wrong as this match is now underway!
Nikki Bella vs. Naomi
We get a standing ovation for Sasha as the bell rings, into the lockup as we get We Want Sasha…while Sasha is right there, you have Sasha right now! Naomi twerks on Nikki and gets a one count. Nikki takes her to the outside and Naomi with a big roundhouse kick and rolls her up but Nikki with a spinebuster, flipping her hair and getting a two count. Nikki stands on the hair of Naomi and pulls on the arms, following up with a delayed snap suplex as Nikki points her finger in the air and bounces, following up with some spears in the corner and a snapmare. Nikki with some form of bow and arrow applied, Naomi fights out of it and slams her down. Naomi misses the legdrop and Nikki covers her for one. Nikki with a snap suplex and grabs the arm of Naomi, wrenching on the arm and hyper-extending it. Naomi with a armdrag to take her off and massive kicks by Naomi followed by a dropkick! Nikki with an elbow and goes for another one but Naomi tosses her to the outside and dives on Nikki and Alicia Fox! Brie starts a We Want Sasha Chant! She gets Sasha and Sasha takes out Brie from the announce table! Nikki with a Misawa like elbow and connects with the Rack Attack to pick up the win!
Winner: Nikki Bella. *** star match. This honestly was not a great match, but for the story it was trying to tell, it got the job done.
We learn that tonight’s Lumberjack Match is sponsored by Payday! But coming up next, John Cena’s United States Open Challenge!
We see Roman Reigns with a pro bowler named Chelsea and promotes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and just like Jerry Lawler, we can do our part to #SaveThePuppies
We see a promo for the Bray Wyatt/Roman Reigns match at Hell In A Cell, which also promotes Smackdown for some reason.
We see the Allstate Arena from Chicago and we see Bryon Saxton being a man in the street, interviewing fans about who are the most unconventional Superstar Or Diva. The winner overall is Paige, Byron is with Paige and apparently this was all a promo for Payday! Yes, a candy bar folks, including Paige pulling said bar from Byron’s suit…I get it, they are trying to stay PG, but come on now. That was corny as hell!
Speaking of corny! The singing of John Cena Sucks means only one thing! It is time for Rudy to defend the title! Cena has the mic, he says he loves this place, there are people that will boast what is the greatest arena, but there is only one Allstate arena. He had his very first WWE match in the Allstate arena, he has been a part of many of the greatest moments of his career inside the Allstate arena. But it is the people that make the Allstate arena, you will get excellence and greatness. As always the Allstate arena is the place to be, and regardless of public opinion, John Cena is the man to beat. The Open Challenge starts now, you want some? Come get some. Who’s it gonna be? Dolph Ziggler’s music plays and Ziggler actually comes out this time! Cole hints at a whirlwind announcement with Lana, we will talk about that later tonight, but for right now, Eden Stiles with the in-ring introductions.
WWE United States championship match: WWE United States champion John Cena vs. Dolph Ziggler
This championship match is underway. Into the lockup and Ziggler with a headlock. We learn that Cena was a part of the Saudi Arabia tour earlier this week, Cena with the headlock takedown and now tries to get an armbar applied. Off the ropes we go and Ziggler goes to the outside. We get Yes chants for some reason, apparently someone just got married! Cena points this out and we even see a She Said YES sign! I love it! Back to the match as Ziggler comes back, we even have the crowd clapping along chanting She said YES! Ziggler with a headlock takedown and now going for the armbar as Raw rolls on!
Ziggler has a sleeper applied as we come back, Cena goes to the corner to break the hold and Ziggler with a clothesline, Stinger Splash and a neckbreaker for a two count. Ziggler with the ten elbows, including the dreaded heart-stopper elbow, which misses and Cena going for the five moves of doom already! Ziggler with a dropkick to block the Five Knuckle Shuffle for two. Cole talks about Cena’s debut which was in the Allstate arena against Kurt Angle and Ziggler has him down for two, STF applied in the middle of the ring. Ziggler trying to slip out of the hold and he reverses it into a sleeper! Cena pulls him up into the AA and Ziggler lands right on his head! Thankfully a prone Ziggler rolls to the bottom rope and he might not even know that he is on the outside. Cena helps Dolph up, pulling him back into the ring, covering him for two. Cena puts Dolph on the top rope, going for a top rope AA but Ziggler fights out of it and hits a top rope DDT for two! Ziggler going for Sweet Chin Music! Cena counters it, spins him around and hits a lariat! Cena goes for the STF but Dolph with a dropkick, Cena no sells and goes for the AA but Dolph counters into the Fameasser for two! Dolph picks him up, punches him and falls into the STF. Ziggler is crawling to the ropes, can he make it? He does! Cena is going for a superplex but Dolph with several headbutts, going for a crossbody but Cena rolls through and goes for the AA, Ziggler rakes the eyes and hits a superkick for two! What a match this is! Ziggler picks him up, punches him and Cena punches him back and the boo-yay punches now officially commence! Cena goes for the AA, Dolph goes for the Zig Zag, connecting with a headbutt and hits the Zig Zag this time but Cena kicks out! Cena with the AA out of nowhere and Cena retains!
Cena wins. ****1/2 star match! This was a great match, the marriage proposal at the start of the match made for great television, and the match made sure that marriage proposal was worth it!
Kane is by the speaker phone, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are still having problems it seems, but this time on the plane.
Roman Reigns will face Braun Strowman later tonight.
We see a promo for the new Sting DVD, Into The Light! But this will also be a Network Special, immediately after Raw!
The Dudley Boyz make their way to the ring, The Ascension is already in the ring.
The Dudley Boyz vs. The Ascension
We get some ECW chants as The Ascension waste no time in going after the Dudley’s, Konnor and D-Von kick things off and Viktor tags in instantly and tees off on D-Von with punches and elbows. Slamming him down for a two count. Rest hold applied and we get a D-Von chant as D-Von tries to fight out of it but is slammed down. Bubba Ray tags in and he cleans house with some massive clotheslines and a big boot! Big clothesline to both Ascension members and Bubba hits the flip flop and fly! D-Von tags in, wait a minute…DOOMSDAY DEVICE! Followed by the 3D for the victory!
Winners via two legendary finishers! The Dudley Boys! *** star match! For the time the match was given, it did its job! Gotta love the Doomsday though.
King Barrett and Sheamus vs. Neville and Cesaro
We join this tag team match in progress, Neville and King Barrett kick things off and Neville already hits a missile dropkick for a two count. Cesaro tags in and slams him down, Neville with a kick up flip stomp and Cesaro covers him for two. Sheamus tags in and hits some European uppercuts but Cesaro with European uppercuts of his own! Dropkick by Cesaro. Sheamus with a suplex, missing with the kneedrop and Cesaro tosses him onto the apron but Sheamus hits the clobbering blows on the apron but Cesaro with an elbow to counter, Sheamus goes for a battering ram and his face runs into a European uppercut! Cesaro wants to dive to the outside but thinks better of it and hits a European uppercut. Neville tags in and Cesaro tosses him onto both men! Neville rolls him up but Neville lands onto the ropes almost like Perro Aguyao Jr did, Bullhammer on the outside and Sheamus covers him for the win.
Winners: King Barrett and Sheamus. ** star match. For the time it was given, it was a good match. It honestly feels it was just put together for the sake of a tag match though.
Commentary talks about Braun Strowman, we then get a look at the black sheep known as Braun Strowman. This man has been very impressive ever since his debut on Raw. But will the apocalypse continue? This match is up next!
We see a promo for WWE Network Gift Cards! This is honestly the best thing to happen to the Network! If this was launched when the Network was, you would see so many more subscriptions for sure!
We see a promo for UpUpDownDown thanks to Payday! If you haven’t seen it yet, it is worth your time, Xavier Woods really has a YouTube goldmine on his hands!
Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. He has a mic, it feels good to be back in Chicago. Anyone but you, anyone but you Roman. This whole feud between me and Bray has to do with one thing, and that is the WWE Championship. A few months ago, I was in the Money In The Bank ladder match, I was going to be back in the title picture. But I was taken out by someone that wasn’t even in the match…I’m sorry, but is he just recapping the entire feud? He is, including the tag match at SummerSlam, the six man tag at Night Of Champions, this is pretty much to promote the Hell In A Cell match between himself and Bray. Thankfully this crowd is giving us what chants and boring chants! Roman tries to say this is real life, which in a way is true, he is trying to provide for his daughter. Thankfully Bray Wyatt stops this Botchamania worthy promo and leads Braun Strowman to the ring.
Bray now has a mic, just who are you trying to convince Roman? These people or yourself? I will take the blame because at the end of the day, you put this tragedy on yourself. There is a massacre waiting for you at Hell In A Cell. Roman agrees with this, but at the end of the day you will wish that you were locked in that cell with anyone but me! Braun makes his way to the ring and this match will begin when we come back!
We learn that The New Day will face the team of the Dudley Boyz and Dean Ambrose tomorrow night (taped for Thursday) on Smackdown!
Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
This match is underway as we go right into the lockup and Roman is tossed like a ragdoll all the way to the outside! Roman with a waistlock but Braun elbows him off, Roman with a slap and kick and another slap but Braun tosses him off, Roman with some punches in the corner but Strowman tosses him off and rams him into the corner! Braun picks him up and sends him into the other corner. Braun with spears and knees in the corner followed up by a clothesline! Braun with a kneelift and a bodyslam. Braun with a clubbing blow to the back of Roman. Braun is yelling at Roman to get up, that he will not make it to HIAC, grabbing him by the neck, taking him down and applying a Tongan death grip! Roman grabs the beard of Strowman and hits a jawbreaker, but that could have been a beardbreaker as it has no effect. A flurry of right hands, kicks and clotheslines and Strowman picks him up but Reigns catches him and hits a massive clothesline. Clotheslines in the corner now and he tries to pick him up for a Samoan drop but he could not do it and he pays for it with a boot to the face! Big boot by Strowman to follow up and Roman flies to the outside! Roman takes him down and hits a Superman dropkick, followed by a second one but he runs into a clothesline by Strowman! Roman with a big right hand, bouncing his head off the announce table three times! Superman punch to Harper! Superman punch to Strowman and Roman beats the count! The streak is over! But at what price, The Wyatts circle the ring but Roman gets out of there in time. Roman spits in Bray’s general direction as we get a Husky Harris chant, Bray tells him to Follow The Buzzards and Roman with a punch for no reason!
Winner via countout: Roman Reigns! **** star match. This match kept Strowman strong yet gave Roman a win he desperately needed to give him momentum towards Hell In A Cell!
Kane gets a call from Triple H, they are headed their way, Kane tells them about the main event and it looks like they have lost connection!
We see a promo for the Stone Cold Podcast starring Brock Lesnar, we will find out if Brock actually knows what Twitter is, and much more! It will be next week immediately following Raw!
Rusev is in the ring, Ryback is also in the ring. We see the proposal by Summer Rae from last week, but in reality, Rusev just got engaged by Lana. Which thankfully has ended this storyline, and WWE actually acknowledges this. Summer is even out here which makes this even more confusing.
Rusev vs. Ryback
This match is underway, and they actually are putting over that Rusev may be in favor of polygamy…are they even PG anymore? First the Payday bar and now this. Back to the match as Rusev with a big clothesline but Ryback with a clothesline of his own, following up with a shoulder tackle and a Saito suplex! Ryback going for the Meathook and connects! Shellshock into a superkick and Rusev rolls him up but he uses the ropes that cost him a potential victory there. He had him beat yet he used the ropes. Rusev misses a Stinger Splash and Ryback hits the Shellshock for the victory!
Winner: Ryback! ** star match. Ryback did what he had to do to end this storyline between Ziggler and Rusev, and he isn’t even involved in the storyline.
Summer Rae picks him up and talks about the engagement with Lana! Yesterday on TMZ, Lana and Rusev engaged! Engaged! The fact that you couldn’t tell me privately and I had to find out online. The fact that you have been engaged for one month tells me what kind of man you are! You were so dominant but now you have proved that you were a whipped little boy! Thank you, for letting me know that I will no longer deal with a lying, cheating, egotistical bastard! Bitch slap by Summer! Thankfully this storyline is over! I honestly feel that this is also a punishment for Rusev engaging Lana, but that is a story for another time!
We get a sneak peak of the film Crimson Peak.
The Lucha Dragons make their way to the ring. Kalisto will be in singles action, as he goes one on one with The Intercontinental Champion, Kevin Owens! We learn that Kevin Owens will defend the Intercontinental title against Ryback at Hell In A Cell!
WWE Intercontinental champion Kevin Owens vs. Kalisto in a non-title match
This match is underway. Kalisto with a hurricanrana but Owens with a clothesline. Owens with a suplex that hangs Kalisto out to dry on the top rope. Right hand knocks Kalisto down followed up with a senton. Owens asks Cole how that was, to which Cole replies ‘pretty good’. Owens takes Kalisto down but Kalisto with some boots to the face as Owens dumps him off. Owens is gonna fly, wait a minute, he goes under the bottom rope and clotheslines him down! He does the Lucha dance as we have Kevin Owens and NXT chants! Kalisto with a 450 but Owens steps back and drops him on his head for a two count! Kalisto with a kick but Owens picks him up but Kalisto goes onto the apron and hits an Enzeguri and a crossbody for two. Handspring enziguiri followed by a hurricanrana like DDT and a tornado DDT to follow up for two! Kalisto with a boot in the corner and goes for a hurricanrana and Owens with a powerbomb to pick up the win! Owens raises the title in the face of Cole! I love it!
Winner: Kevin Owens! *** star match! For what this match was worth, it was beyond expectations. I personally thought he was gonna squash the other Lucha Dragon but Kalisto had a nice showing for himself in that match.
The Lumberjack Match is later tonight.
We learn about WrestleMania 32 travel packages available tomorrow! Individual tickets however will be available November 6th!
Charlotte and Becky Lynch, as well as Brie Bella and Alicia Fox are in the ring. Paige is on commentary, and we learn that Charlotte will face Nikki Bella for the Divas title at Hell In A Cell! Natalya is part of this and we now have the official debut of Team NBC!
WWE Divas champion Charlotte and Becky Lynch vs. Brie Bella and Alicia Fox
Brie and Becky kick things off and Becky with a armdrag to escape a wristlock. Brie takes her into the corner but Becky with a snapmare for a two count. Charlotte tags in and a nice double team by two-thirds of Team NBC for two! Massive chops by Charlotte followed by a neckbreaker to Brie, clothesline to Foxy and a spear by Charlotte! Charlotte goes for the Figure Four but Brie rolls her up for two! Paige and Natalya have a shoving match and Brie kicks Nattie in the back of the head! Charlotte then stomps Brie in the corner but Brie with a missile dropkick for the victory!
Winners: Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. *** star match. For the time it was given and the story it is trying to tell, it did its job! Plus Paige told Byron to shut up, which is always a plus!
Triple H and Stephanie finally figure out that Kane is in the lumberjack match, they say under no circumstances will Kane be in the match, there must be a replacement, and we get our first CM Punk chants for the evening. It took them almost three hours, so at least that is a plus.
We see a promo for the breast cancer gear, remember to #SaveThePuppies folks!
Undisputed Champion Seth Rollins and Big Show talk about this lumberjack match. Show laughs and says Seth has a great sense of humor. Kane comes up and says Triple H informed him that Kane will not be his opponent, but don’t need to worry, he will find a suitable replacement.
We see the same promo for Taker vs. Brock that we did earlier tonight.
Cole tells us that Dusty Rhodes would have celebrated his 70th birthday today, the lumberjacks make their way to the ring, this match will begin when we come back.
We learn that Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker will be on Raw next week!
Undisputed Champion Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring for this lumberjack match! We learn that Seth Rollins will be on SportsCenter with Jonathan Coachman tomorrow night! The Demon Kane is here!
Lumberjack match: WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins vs. Demon Kane in a non-title match
Kane already with several lefts and rights as the lumberjacks are not allowing Seth to leave! Kane flips Rollins on the top rope and back down, Demon Kane tosses Seth into the lumberjacks and they toss him back in the ring. Kane tosses them back again and the lumberjacks do their job. Off the ropes we go and Seth kicks him in the face, Demon Kane is taken to the outside, the lumberjacks are thinking twice about this and I don’t blame them. Seth gets hit with a European uppercut! Seth goes back outside and Cesaro catches him and the rest of the lumberjacks toss him back in. Seth counters a chokeslam with a enziguri! Demon Kane taken to the outside and he is fighting the New Day! Big Show with a staredown and Kane slaps him, Kane takes out the Ascension, WMD to the Demon Kane! Big Show is walking out! The Ascension and the New Day toss him back in but Seth only gets a two count out of it. Avada Kadeva connects for two. Seth with a kick to the leg but Kane tosses him to the apron, enziguri by Seth and Seth goes up top and hits the knee that broke the nose of John Cena several months ago but it only gets two! Seth goes for a frog splash and we get Eddie chants but Kane kicks out! Seth goes back up top, Kane grabs the neck of Seth but Seth fights him off, what a right hand by Kane! Kane hits a superplex but can he capitalize? The New Day just grabbed him out of the ring and all hell has broken loose on the outside! The Lumberjacks are now taking out Kane! New Day is directing traffic! Big E with the Warrior splash but Kane sat up and the rest of the lumberjacks are brawling! Chokeslam to Stardust! Chokeslam to Xavier! Seth with a Pedigree but a back body drop by Kane and Kane with the Tombstone to pick up the victory! The Demon Kane has just pinned the Undisputed Champion!
Winner: Demon Kane! **** star match! What a great match, this was one of the better lumberjack matches in a very long time.
Kane does the arm thing that he is famous for, a look at Sting: Into The Light will be on the WWE Network right now! But for now, goodnight from Chicago!
