IN THE RING
Lillian Garcia & William Regal + Mickie James + John Cena: The show started with “General Manager/King of the Ring” William Regal standing in the ring forcing Lillian Garcia to sing “God save the Queen.” The fans booed all throughout the song and King Regal felt disrespected – and we all know what that means! King Regal said he would make an example by throwing two fans out of the building and threatened to throw everybody out with no refunds. Mickie James showed up and said it was her brother and his girlfriend, and begged King Regal not to throw them out. Regal ordered security to escort the two fans out of the building, while Mickie James protested. Regal told James to leave or she would be thrown out of the building too. John Cena showed up and told King Regal that he’s been watching RAW and there’s a lot of people who thinks Regal is messing up. Regal said he got Vince McMahon’s endorsement. Cena said that Vince McMahon is INSANE. John Cena started reading WWE.com emails from fans about Regal’s actions over the past few weeks. One fan wrote that it feels like WCW Thunder all over again, and wanted to start a “Fire Regal!” chant at every WWE event he goes to. A 75 year old woman wrote in saying William Regal was “like pooping in my mouth and calling it a sunday.” Regal promised not to turn out the lights tonight, and booked John Cena against Randy Orton in the main event tonight. Regal assumed that he earned some respect from Cena and started to leave the ring. Cena said Regal made Lillian sing “God save the Queen” and pointed out that they were in the United States. Cena they put Detroit over and asked Lillian Garcia to sing Aretha Franklin’s R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes defeated Santino Marella & Carlito Cool: Santino Marella invited “Rowdy” Roddy Piper to be at ringside to watch he and Carlito capture the World Tag Team titles. It ended up backfiring though, because Santino was obsessed with giving Piper all his attention. Piper’s distraction led to Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes retaining their World Tag Team titles.
MATCH
Mr. Kennedy defeated Gene Snitsky:
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Todd Grisham & Santino Marella: Santino Marella said that it was not the 80s; Hulk Hogan was not Champion, Ronald Regan was not President, and Michael J. Fox isn’t going back in time to become a warewolf!
BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
John Cena & Mickie James: Mickie James thanked John Cena for sticking up for her earlier, and invited him out for drinks later with her brother and her girlfriend. John Cena teased not being interested and then said he would be there – but when you go out with John Cena it could be a WILD night!
WWE DIVAS TAG TEAM MATCH
Mickie James & Maria Kanellis defeated Beth Phoenix & Melina Perez: The combination of Melina and Beth were not on the same page, stemming from Melina botching her interference last week costing Phoenix an important victory last week in the Lumberjack match against Mickie James. Melina inadvertantly knocked The Glamazon off the ring apron, so she (Phoenix) walked out on her partner (Melina).
IN THE RING (THE HIGHLIGHT REEL)
Chris Jericho + Shawn Michaels: Chris Jericho came out and showed video footage of Shawn Michaels “injuring” his knee at Backlash. Chris Jericho, who was the referee in that match, said that he was one of the people who thought Michaels faked that injury to gain an advantage over Batista. Jericho said when he was in the ring with Shawn last week and saw the pain in his face he came to the conclusion that he was wrong, and that he (Shawn) is really hurt. Chris Jericho looked into the camera and apologized to Shawn Michaels, and offered to call off their match at Judgment Day. The Heartbreak Kid’s music hit and Shawn Michaels limped to the ring, and said that Chris Jericho is not the one who needs to apologize. Michaels admitted that he faked the injury and he was not hurt. A grin came across Jericho’s face and he said Michaels was not going to fool him twice. Jericho said Michaels had to come up with a better game-plan. Michaels said that Jericho was right all along, and repeated that he was NOT really hurt. Jericho said he knows that Michaels is hurt. Shawn Michaels then proved himself by knocking Jericho out with a super-kick. Michaels said “trust me when I tell you, I’m not hurt,” and bounced out of the ring over the top rope! (Editor’s Note: They REALLY should have saved that for the Pay-Per-View)
IN THE RING
Jeff Hardy (return from suspension) + William Regal: Jeff Hardy said it was good to be back, explaining that he made a mistake and he paid for it. Jeff said he had a job to do, but suddenly his microphone was cut and William Regal came out to the stage to address the former Intercontinental champion. Regal said that Hardy should be punished for his sins, so he will compete against this man – UMAGA!
MATCH
Jeff Hardy defeated Umaga:
TAG TEAM MATCH
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch defeated Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG): Am I the only one that loses all interested when he sees Cryme Tyme on WWE Television? Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch looked to be back on the same page with this victory over Cryme Tyme. Lance Cade grabbed the microphone and said they were back on a roll, and maybe Trevor Murdoch’s singing has something to do with it? Cade asked his partner to sing them a victory song – saying he earned it! Murdoch then started to sing “You Gotta Know When To Hold’em” by Kenny Rogers. Suddenly, without warning, Lance Cade clotheslined the crap out of Trevor Murdoch and then punched his straight between the eyes!
BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Jillian Hall & Melina Perez + Beth Phoenix: Melina asked Beth what was up with her walking out on her tonight. Beth said she did it because Melina, as she put it, intentionally hit her with the belt last week. Beth theorized that Melina knew she had a better chance against Mickie than going against her. Melina got up in Beth’s face and Beth went crazy, lifting Melina off her feet and repeatedly rammed her back-first into the lockers.
BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Todd Grisham & Randy Orton: Randy Orton bragged about taking out more WWE Superstars than anybody in WWE, and claimed Triple H just had one lucky night. Orton added that tonight John Cena is going to find out that he is not only the most gifted athlete in the WWE, he’s also the smartest.
GRUDGE MATCH MAIN EVENT
Randy Orton defeated John Cena: Randy Orton has new entrance music. I don’t really like it. Mid-way through the match, William Regal came out with JBL, who stated “Mr. Regal has determined that that referee is not fit to officiate the match, therefore Mr. Regal has determined that I (JBL) will be the referee.” JBL walked to the ring in a referee shirt and John Cena immediately attacked him! Randy Orton got Cena from behind, Cena fought back and went for an FU, but JBL kicked him in the faces and counted a fast 1-2-3 to give Orton the victory! Cena speared JBL after the match and pounded on him, but Randy Orton pulled him off and Orton and JBL double-teamed Cena until Triple H made the save! Triple H went right after Orton, while Cena and JBL brawled through the audience out of sight. Orton took control of Triple H as the steel cage was lowered down over the ring! It was funny because Jim Roxx and Jerry Lawler had to pretend they didn’t see it hanging up there all night long. Randy Orton was tossed out the door to the floor, and Triple H climbed to the top of the cage to stare down at his Judgment Day challenger!
BONUS DARK MATCH: Triple H & Shawn Michaels & John Cena defeated Randy Orton & John Bradshaw Layfield & Umaga..
