In The Beginning John Tenta attended Louisiana State University before going to Japan to take up the sport of Sumo Wrestling.. John Tenta signed a big contract with All Japan Pro Wrestling which was run by the legendary Giant Baba.. World Wrestling Federation Tenta debuted when Dino Bravo pulled the "large" man out of the audience to sit on his back while he did push-ups.. ~~~"Big John" then sat on Ultimate Warrior's back, but SQUASHED HIM like a bug! ~~~"Big John" was then given the name "The Canadian Earthquake", but the Canadian part was eventually dropped.. Earthquake & Dino Bravo teamed up for the next several months against men like Ultimate Warrior & Hulk Hogan.. John Tenta vs. Cancer May 2004: John Tenta revealed on the Wrestlecrap forum that he has advanced bladder cancer and will be starting chemotherapy.. August 17, 2004: John Tenta announced on the WrestleCrap Forum that he was given 13-to-18 months to live WITHOUT treatment.. ~~~He has a new tumor in his left lung. 2 lymph nodes are enlarged in his heart & he's undergoing 4 chemotherapy sessions a day.. November 2005: John Tenta was told the tumor in his hip didn't react to chemo-therapy and has actually grown larger.. ~~~He also has four large tumors on his lungs. His doctor has told him that the chances of long term survival are 10% to 20%... June 7, 2006: John "Earthquake" Tenta passed away after a lengthy battle with bladder cancer at the age of 42...
