  • 1978: Wayne Ferris was a typical jobber-to-the-stars before Handsome Jimmy took him under his wing.
  • 1979: Wayne Ferris teamed with Larry Latham as the Blonde Bombers in Florida and Memphis.
  • ~~~Back in Memphis, the Blonde Bombers added Sgt. Danny Davis as their manager.

Stampede Wrestling:

  • Wayne Ferris was given the name “Honky Tonk Wayne” by Bruce Hart while working in Calgary.
  • June 20, 1986: Honky Tonk Wayne defeated Bad News Allen to win the Stampede North American Heavyweight Title.

World Wrestling Federation:

  • 1987: Honky Tonk Man signed with the WWF and had a brief stint as a face (good guy).
  • The WWF started a write-in campaign called “A Vote of Confidence” for the fans to vote yes or no.
  • ~~~They were essentially asking the fans if Honky Tonk should be a face or heel, and the response was clear.

  • Honky Tonk Man began appearing on TV through a series of vignettes as a bitter heel Elvis impersonator.
  • Honky Tonk Man redebuted with Jimmy Hart as his manager, and sang his own entrance music “I’m a Honky Tonk Man”.
