Career History

The Legendary Guerrero Family:

  • Eddie Guerrero is the son of the legendary Gory Guerrero and brother of Hector, Chavo and Mando and uncle of Chavo Jr.
  • Early on Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Eddie Guerrero wrestled each other during the intermissions of Gory Guerrero promoted shows.

In the Beginning:

  • 1987: Eddie Guerrero debuted in EMLL teaming with El Matematico against Flama Roja and El Vikingo.
  • 1989: Eddie Guerrero went to the NWA where he worked as a jobber facing off against such talent as Terry Funk.
  • 1992 – AAA: Eddie Guerrero and El Hijo del Santo became the new version of La Pareja Atómica (The Atomic Pair).
  • ~~~the original La Pareja Atómica was composed of the two men’s fathers, Gory Guerrero and El Santo.

Eddie Guerrero and The Love Machine:

  • Late 1993: Eddie Guerrero joined forces with “Love Machine” Art Barr and formed La Pareja del Terror.
  • ~~~Konnan joined Guerrero and Barr and they formed the legendary stable called “Los Gringos Locos” with several others.
  • ~~~Other wrestlers joined them: Black Cat, Madonna’s Boyfriend (Louie Spicolli), Misterioso, Chicano Power and King Lion.
  • Love Machine and Eddie Guerrero feuded extensively with El Hijo del Santo and Octagon.
  • ~~~The feud that was culminated in a hair vs. masks match in the first ever lucha libre only PPV in the United States.
  • November 6, 1994 – When Worlds Collide: El Hijo del Santo and Octagon defeated Love Machine and Eddie Guerrero.
  • ~~~As a result, Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr were shaven bald in the middle of the ring!
  • ~~~With the PPV, Eddie Guerrero gained world-wide exposure, and he was destined to stardom.
  • At this time, ECW was very interested in Art Barr and Eddie Guerrero coming into their company.
  • The plan was to have them feud with their top tag team Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge).
  • Amazingly, at the same time, WWF, WCW and New Japan also showed interest in La Pareja del Terror.
  • November 23, 1994: Art Barr was found dead at his home in Springfield, Oregon.

  • April 8, 1995 – Three Way Dance: Eddie Guerrero defeated Too Cold Scorpio to win the ECW Television title.
  • April 15, 1995 – Hostile City Showdown: Eddie Guerrero vs Dean Malenko ended in a DRAW (Guerrero retains TV title).
  • May 13, 1995 – ECW Enter Sandman: Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko ended in a double count-out to retain the World TV title. Eddie Guerrero defeated Marty Jannetty to retain the World TV title.
  • July 15, 1995 – Heat Wave: Dean Malenko and Too Cold Scorpio defeated The Tazmaniac and Eddie Guerrero.
  • July 25, 1996 – ECW Hardcore TV: Eddie Guerrero & Taz defeated Dean Malenko & Too Cold Scorpio.
  • August 5, 1995 – Wrestlepalooza: Too Cold Scorpio and Dean Malenko and Cactus Jack beat Eddie Guerrero and The Steiner Brothers.
  • August 5, 1995 – ECW Hardcore TV: Eddie Guerrero defeated Dean Malenko to win the World TV title.
  • August 29, 1995 – ECW Hardcore TV: Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko ended in a 1-1 draw in a best 2 out of 3 falls match.
  • September 5, 1995 – ECW Hardcore TV: 2 Cold Scorpio defeated Eddie Guerrero to win the World TV title.

After taking his daughters to the back, he returned with Dean Malenko (and a few others). He jumped the barrier between the fans and the ring and just basically confronted the guy, basically just asking him why he felt he had to do that. He was shaken, but did not try to attack the fan, though you can tell he wanted to. I can confirm this because I was sitting 3rd row ringside and this happened right in front of me.

  • April 21-25, 2005 – Live Event: Tag team champions Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury defeated Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio Jr.. to retain the titles.
  • April 21, 2005 – SmackDown: Carlito Cool had Eddie Guerrero in the Cabana and Eddie apologized to Rey and hugged him.
  • ~~~MNM came up on the big screen and challenged Rey and Eddie to a title match then spray painted M N M on Eddie’s car!

  • May 5, 2005 – SmackDown: Rey Mysterio defeated Chavo Guerrero in a Street Fight despite interference from Mercury and Nitro.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero cleared the ring after the match, only to attack Rey himself and rip a hole in his mask and bust him open!
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero finished Rey Mysterio off by giving him a vicious suplex onto the ringsteps outside the ring!!!!
  • May 12, 2005 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero cut a promo on Rey, holding Rey’s ripped and bloody mask in the air and yelling at it!
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero later lost to Jimmy Jacobs by Disqualification, placing Rey’s mask over his head and pretending he was Rey.
  • May 19, 2005 – SmackDown: Eddie Guerrero came to the ring but didn’t utter a single word he just looked at the crowd in disgust.

  • July 28, 2005 – SmackDown: Dispite the fact they he was contractually restricted, Eddie Guerrero revealed the secret to Dominic.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero explained that he, not Rey, was Dominic’s real father! Dominic confronted Rey and ran away from the ring.

  • August 11, 2005 – SmackDown: Rey Mysterio and his wife bring Dominick to the ring with social services representative observing.
  • ~~~Eddie and Rey yelled at each other and the rep (Mrs. Crabtree) said it was clear their issue had nothing to do with Dominick!
  • ~~~Mrs. Crabtree ruled that Dominick would go into foster care until Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero could resolve their differences.

  • ~~~This match was added to showcase SmackDown’s talent, but it was “cancelled” when Eric Bischoff came out and turned the lights off!

  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero gave Mr. Ken Kennedy a chair and layed on the mat, the referee saw this and disqualified Kennedy.

Eddie Guerrero RIP – Viva La Raza!

  • November 13, 2005: Eddie Guerrero tragically passed away at the age of 38 as a result of reported heart failure [Eddie RIP FanJam].
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero arrived in Minneapolis for the scheduled combined RAW/SmackDown television tapings at the Target Center.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero was staying at the Marriott City Center hotel in downtown Minneapolis.
  • ~~~Eddie Guerrero got an early wake-up call just after 7 a.m. and he didn’t answer.
  • ~~~Chavo Guerrero tried calling the room and also got no answer. The two had been traveling together.
  • ~~~Several people knocked on his door after numerous attemped calls went unanswered.
  • November 13, 2005 – TNA Genesis: An “In memory of Eddie Guerrero” screen was shown at the beginning of the Pay Per View.
  • November 13, 2005 – OVW House Show: The show opened up with a special 10-bell salute in honor of Eddie Guerrero’s life.
  • November 13, 2005 – IPW:UK: Vampiro gave a speech about the passing of Eddie Guerrero (who he roomed with in Mexico).

  • December 25, 2005: Eddie Guerrero won “Best SmackDown Wrestler” and “Most Inspirationa” on the 2005 OWW.com Awards.

  • Eddie Guerrero was listed as Legacy.com’s 3rd most eulogized person of 2005 behind Rosa Parks and Luther Vandross.
  • January 2006: Eddie Guerrero was honored in his hometown of El Paso in a ceremony attended by his wife and children.

  • April 1, 2006: Eddie Guerrero was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Chavo Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio.
  • May 13, 2006 – Live Event (SmackDown crew) in El Paso, Texas: Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero paid their respects to Eddie Guerrero.
  • Mike Aldren wrote (On October 10, 2009): Chavo Guerrero did an interview with www.mondaynightmayhem.com talking about the late Eddie Guerrero, who would have turned 42 on Friday, He said: “For people who met him or if you didn’t meet him, you met him through the TV, or through other means. Eddie was a very giving person. He was not only a Christian man, but very giving. The charity I’m doing now is a charity that honors veterans and people on active duty now. And when Eddie would go to Iraq, he used to come back so elated, so full of life, so blessed because he saw people that was fighting for us and making our life better. And he was always so grateful about this.”
  • October 2, 2009 – A Decade of SmackDown: The WWE presented a very special tribute video in memory of Eddie Guerrero.
