Dory Funk Jr Career History

In The Beginning:

  • Dory Funk Jr. is the son of Dory Funk Sr. and the brother of Terry Funk.
  • Dory Funk Jr. was an all-star football player at the West Texas State University.

Amarillo:

  • 1963 – Dory Funk Jr. made his pro wrestling debut in the Amarillo, Texas territory booked by his father Dory Funk Sr.
  • July 3, 1963 – Amarillo: Lou Thesz defeated Dory Funk Jr. to retain the NWA Heavyweight Title in Dory’s first shot at the belt.

Vancouver:

  • January 20, 1964: Dory Funk Jr. and Dory Funk Sr. received a 1st round bye in the NWA Canadian Tag Title Tournament.
  • ~~~Dory Funk Jr. and Dory Funk Sr. defeated Billy Watson and Enrique Torres in the second round of a Tag Team Tournament.
