Career Highlights

In The Beginning – San Francisco:

  • Pat Patterson wrestled as “Pretty Boy” Patterson, in the early-60’s, which included red lipstick, and pink tights.
  • Pat Patterson dominated the San Francisco territory, winning multiple U.S. titles, as well as several tag team titles with Rocky Johnson.
  • Pat Patterson also won the 1975 Cow Palace Battle Royal – a major event through the 70s.
  • Pat Patterson came back in 1981 to win the final Cow Palace Battle Royal when promoter Roy Shire was closing down the promotion.
  • Tamalie (via the Wrestling Classics Message Board wrote: In the early 1970s Pat Patterson wore a mask in the San Francisco area for a while. He always was billed under his own name and made no effort to hide his identity. His official reason for wearing a mask was to hide his facial expressions so his opponents couldn’t tell if he was in pain. The real reason was so he could load the mask with foreign objects to headbutt the babyfaces for cheap wins.

American Wrestling Association:

  • June 6, 1979: Verne Gagne and Mad Dog Vachon defeated Pat Patterson and Ray Stevens for the AWA Tag Team title.

World Wrestling Federation:

  • 1979: Pat Patterson then joined the WWF, where he was managed by the Grand Wizard.
  • June 19, 1979: Pat Patterson won the WWF North American belt by defeating Ted DiBiase.
  • September 1979: Pat Patterson was awarded the first ever Intercontinental title in a fictional tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
  • ~~~The North American title was retired and replaced by the Intercontinental title.
  • 1980-81: Pat Patterson also started doing some commentary for the WWF after he turned face.
  • Pat Patterson worked for Dino Bravo and Gino Brito’s Montreal promotion.
  • 1980: Pat Patterson lost the Intercontinental title to Ken Patera.
  • Pat Patterson began a brutal feud with Sgt Slaughter, one of the biggest heels in the WWF.
  • April 1981 – NY MSG: Pat Patterson vs Sgt. Slaughter series of Boot Camp matches were some of the great WWF matches in the 80s.
  • Early 1980s: Pat Patterson headed back to Montreal to work for International Wrestling.

World Wrestling Federation – The Office:

  • Pat Patterson becomes a WWF Official and Road Agent, as well as part time Booker.
  • 1992: Pat Patterson was one of the figures accused of sexual misconduct, and had to resign from the WWF until things cooled down.
  • Pat Patterson’s sexual orientation came out during the sex scandal, but luckily he was not scoffed at by the industry, and was rehired.
  • 1996: Pat Patterson is inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame.
  • Pat Patterson is known for putting finishing touches on the booking of top matches.
  • Pat Patterson is the godfather of Stephanie McMahon.

  • Late 90s: Pat Patterson received a lot of TV exposure with Gerald Brisco as Vince McMahon’s stooges.
  • May 18, 1998 – RAW is WAR: Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson vs. Steve Austin in a handicap match ended in a no contest.
  • January 4, 1999 – RAW: Kane defeated Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco in a handicap match.
  • January 18, 1999 – RAW: Chyna defeated Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco in a handicap match.
  • March 15, 1999 – RAW: Shane McMahon w/Vince McMahon defeated The Legion of Doom (Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco).
  • March 22, 1999 – RAW: The REAL Legion of Doom showed up and attacked Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco.
  • May 3, 1999 – RAW: Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson defeated The Mean Street Posse (Rodney and Pete Gas) by Count Out.
  • May 10, 1999 – RAW: Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson (who came out to “Real American”) defeated Pete Gas and Rodney.
  • June 7, 1999 – RAW: X-Pac and Kane defeated Shane McMahon by disqualification.
  • ~~~The Mean Street Posse interfered and Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco ran down to beat them up.
  • June 14, 1999 – RAW: Pat Patterson tried to quit but Gerald Brisco convinced him to stay.
  • ~~~Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco vs. Mideon and Viscera ended in a no contest when the Mean Street Posse interfered.
  • June 21, 1999 – RAW: Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and sat on top of a ladder on stage to address the McMahons.
  • ~~~Shawn Michaels showed up with his new “associates” Patterson and Brisco and booked matches for the show.
  • ~~~Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco vs. Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon ended in a No Contest.
  • ~~~The Mean Street Posse including the debut of Joey Abs assaulted Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco.
  • September 6, 1999 – RAW is WAR: Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and Test defeated The Mean Street Posse (Joey Abs, Pete Gas and Rodney).
  • December 16, 1999 – SmackDown: The New Age Outlaws (Mr. Ass and The Road Dogg) defeated Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson in a tag team elimination match to retain the World tag team titles.
  • May 8, 2000 – RAW is WAR: Rikishi Phatu defeated Pat Patterson, The Road Dogg and X-Pac by disqualification in a handicap match.
  • June 25, 2000 – King Of The Ring: Pat Patterson vs. Gerald Brisco ended in a no contest. Patterson retains the Hardcore title.

World Wrestling Entertainment:

  • October 5, 2004: Pat Patterson gave his notice to the WWE and will leave the company after their next PPV (Taboo Tuesday).
  • ~~~This stems after his comments were published criticizing Triple H being over-pushed and blaming him for the recent slump.
  • October 19, 2004 – Taboo Tuesday: The McMahons threw a “retirement” party in Pat Patterson’s honor after the PPV went off air.
  • October 3, 2005 – WWE Homecoming: Pat Patterson participated in a Legends Ceremony which included roughly two dozen Legends.
  • August 7, 2006: Pat Patterson underwent emergency heart surgery to remove a cyst the “size of a baseball” from the main artery.
  • October 13, 2006: Pat Patterson amazingly returned to the WWE as a Road Agent (now called a “Producer”).
  • June 11, 2007 – RAW: The Mr. McMahon “character” was tragically killed when his private limousine exploded into a ball of flames.
  • ~~~Pat Patterson was the last person Mr. McMahon made eye contact with before he walked out the building to his “death”.
  • May 27, 2007 – Dory Funk’s BANG: Pat Patterson appeared a guest of Dory Funk Jr. at the Funking Conservatory.
  • December 10, 2007 – RAW 15th Anniversary: Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco made a appearances on the show.
  • September 13, 2009 – WWE Breaking Point: Pat Patterson was introduced as the first ever WWE Intercontinental champion.
