- May 27, 1996:–Scott Hall made a huge surprise return to WCW, crashing a live episode of WCW Nitro..

- Kevin Nash & Scott Hall (known as the “Outsiders“) began appearing on WCW Nitro and disrupting the program weekly..
- The Outsiders challenged WCW to a 6-Man Tag match, gathering the top 3 WCW wrestlers to face them and a “mystery” third man..
- June 16, 1996–Great American Bash: Eric Bischoff agreed to let the Outsiders have their challenge for a 3-on-3 match at Bash at the Beach..
