Chris Benoit Career Highlights
In The Beginning:
- 1985: Chris Benoit graduated from high school.
- 1985: Chris Benoit would work all week, then drive 185 miles south, from his Edmonton home, to Calgary, to the Hart House.
- After 6 months of the grueling training, Benoit made his debut for Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling.
Canada, Japan and Mexico:
- Chris Benoit went to Japan for a full year of touring, before returning to Stampede.
- ~~~Chris Benoit was billed as the “Pegasis Kid” in Japan and Mexico.
- 1988: Chris Benoit defeated Great Gama Singh for the Stampede Mid-Heavyweight title.
- Chris Benoit had a memorable feud with Johnny Smith for over a year.
- July 4, 1989: Davey Boy Smith, Jason the Terrible, and Benoit were injured in a head-on automobile accident in Jasper, Alberta.
- ~~~Smith suffered a cracked vertebrae in his back and needed 100 stitches in his head after being thrown through the windshield.
- ~~~Jason suffers 2 fractures in his left leg and Benoit suffers an injured right knee.
- 1990: Chris Benoit defeated Jushin Liger for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title.
