“M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva” is a weekly column where a WWE Diva or TNA Knockout is named the Most Valuable Diva of the Week based on their overall performance. The divas/knockouts that compete in matches and/or take part in segments automatically get nominated for Most Valuable Diva.
This week’s nominees for M.V.D. are:
Gail Kim: At Lockdown, Gail Kim had her sights set on Velvet Sky and the Knockouts Championship. If Gail were to have won the match, not only would she have became the new KO champion, she would have also continued her undefeated streak at Lockdown. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way. After weeks of pushing referee Taryn Terrell‘s buttons, Gail lost the match after Taryn snapped and attacked her. After the match, Gail got the last laugh when she attacked Taryn after the match. On Impact, Gail teamed with Tara to face Mickie James and Velvet Sky. Once again, Gail pushed Taryn’s buttons, and she was on the receiving end of a slap.
Velvet Sky: At Lockdown, Velvey Sky successfully defended her Knockouts Championship against Gail Kim, with some unasked help from referee Taryn Terrell. During the match, we saw a more fiery Velvet Sky, and she even showed us some new moves. On Impact, Velvet continued to show off her fiery side and even more new moves when she teamed with Mickie James to face Gail Kim and Tara.
Taryn Terrell: After dealing with Gail Kim pushing her buttons for weeks, Taryn Terrell snapped and cost Gail Kim her match against Velvet at Lockdown. After the match, she was attacked by Gail from behind. On Impact, Taryn’s buttons were once again pressed by Gail, and she slapped the Korean beauty. From the looks of things, Taryn will be hanginng up her black and white stripes in exchange for wrestling boots because her feud will Gail has officially kicked off!
Tara: Tara teamed with Gail Kim to face Velvet Sky and Mickie James on Impact. She hit a vicious Widow’s Peak on Mickie James and locked her in the Tarantula as well, but it wasn’t enough to help her and Gail win the match.
Mickie James: Mickie James teamed with Velvet Sky to defeat Gail Kim and Tara. As always, Mickie was on fire!
Brooke Hogan: Brooke Hogan better get those divorce papers ready. At Lockdown, her husband Bully Ray revealed he was the president of Aces & Eights and used Brooke. After the match, we saw Brooke break down in tears. Great acting by Brooke by the way.
The Bella Twins: The Bella Twins made an unexpected and shocking return to WWE after being gone for nearly a year. They returned on RAW and declared that they’re about to make the divas divsion better. On Smackdown, The Bella Twins insulted The Funkadactyls by calling them “hoochie mamas” and attacked them as a way of saying “Nice to meet you!”
Kaitlyn: Kaitlyn’s relationship with Cody looked to be going in a good direction. Then walked in The Bella Twins, who were called in by Damien Sandow to double date with him and Cody. On Smackdown, Kaitlyn teamed with Layla to face Aksana and Tamina, after nailing a spear on Aksana, Kaitlyn was going to get the win for her and Layla, but Layla tagged herself in and took the win instead. Kaitlyn didn’t look too pleased.
Layla: On Smackdown, Layla teamed with Divas Champion Kaitlyn to face Aksana and Tamina. Layla was getting her butt handed to her most of the match, until she finally tagged in Kaitlyn. When Kaitlyn looked to pick up the win, Layla tagged herself in and hit the LOL to get the win instead. Layla looked overjoyed, but her partner? Not so much.
Aksana: Aksana competed in tag team action on Smackdown with Tamina against Layla and Kaitlyn. Unfortunately, Aksana was on the losing end after she was hit with a spear and the LOL.
Tamina: Tamina teamed up with Aksana to face Layla and Kaitlyn on Smackdown. Although Tamina and Aksana lost the match, Tamina was featured twice on the instant replay for her dominance over Layla early on.
The Funkadactyls: The Funkadactyls were excited the meet The Bella Twins, and even praised them for inspiring them. However, The Bellas weren’t too pleased to meet them, and The Funkadactlys were called “hoochie mamas” and attacked by the twins as well.
Emma: On NXT, Emma competed against Summer Rae. Emma put up a valiant effort against Summer, but her leg injury couldn’t hold up long enough, causing her to lose the match in the end.
Paige: Paige is back! After Summer’s match against Emma, Paige’s music hit, and she went after Summer Rae. Paige even declared that summer session’s over!
Summer Rae: Summer Rae picked up an impressive win over Emma on NXT thanks to her long, Stacy Keibler-like legs. However, Summer Rae’s smile turned upside down after the match when Paige made her return to NXT. Summer school’s officially over!
This week’s MVD is…
Velvet Sky!
Velvet Sky successfully defended her Knockouts title at Lockdown, and picked up a tag team win on Impact. During both matches, we saw a more fiery Velvet Sky. We even saw her use some new moves that she executed perfectly! Being Knockouts Champion has certainly given Velvet more of an edge.
Come back next week to see who will be M.V.D. of the week. Thanks for reading!
