John-Cena-WWE

John Cena is unquestionably the biggest star on the WWE roster, and his superstar status is only getting bigger as he pursues more acting jobs in Hollywood. Adult wrestling fans around the world may love to hate Cena, but there is no denying that he is an extremely gifted performer inside the ring. Cena has the ability to draw in casual fans unlike any other wrestler on the WWE roster, which is why he is so important to the company. With all of the top wrestling insiders reporting that John Cena will drastically cut his wrestling appearances in 2017, the WWE is quickly becoming concerned about losing their top star to acting in the near future.

It is hard to question Cena’s decision to focus on acting jobs in the future because it worked out so great for The Rock. Dwayne Johnson has used the great charisma that made him an instant star in the WWE to become one of the biggest actors in the world. Johnson is able to make more money in his acting career without sacrificing his body on a nightly basis. He is also contasntly making appearances at other events all over the country and sometimes the world, most recently he and Nikki Bella were spotted at a Nationals game in D.C. His superstar status also means that he can come back to the WWE at any time to get another huge payday.

While John Cena has only appeared in a few films, he has displayed the same charisma that made The Rock an instant star in Hollywood. Cena’s quest to become a mainstream name will start on December 10 when he hosts “Saturday Night Live” for the first time. Cena already proved he had great comedic timing in the movies “Trainwreck” and “Sisters,” so a solid performance on “SNL” will likely give Cena more acting opportunities. Getting away from the wrestling ring may be the right career move for John Cena, but it makes him look like a hypocrite to dedicated wrestling fans.

John Cena was extremely vocal of his disappointment when The Rock decided to leave the WWE for an acting career in 2008. Cena claimed The Rock did not respect the WWE fans because he completely abandoned them for a career in Hollywood. While it remains to be seen if John Cena gives up wrestling entirely, his past words are not making him look very good at the moment.

The WWE may be concerned about John Cena leaving the company, but they are well equipped to handle the loss thanks to a very talented roster. The WWE already started the transition away from Cena earlier this year when they had him repeatedly lose to new WWE World Champion AJ Styles. Wrestling fans are ready for Styles to become the face of the WWE because he is one of the best in-ring performers of all-time. Letting Styles be the face of the company will also allow the young stars on the roster more time to build a dedicated fan base. They may not find someone with the mainstream appeal of John Cena, but AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins are more than capable of carrying the WWE.
