There has been a great deal of speculation and debate over the number of World title reigns the Nature Boy Ric Flair has actually had in his career.. The WWE would have you believe it was 17, but true historians believe the real number is higher.. I, personally, have no clue which is the accurate statistic, so I decided to do a little investigative journalism for when the next Flair-nut asks me exactly how many World title Flair has, I can direct them here.. Flair defeated Carlos Colon on 23/1/83 -possibly in Puerto Rico- to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Harley Race on 11/24/83 in Greensboro, NC to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Harley Race on 3/23/84 in Kallang, Singapore to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Randy Savage on 9/1/92 in Hershey, PA to win the WWF World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Barry Windham on 7/18/93 in Biloxi, MS to win the NWA World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Big Van Vader on 12/27/93 in Charlotte, NC to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Ricky Steamboat on 4/24/94 in Atlanta, Georgia to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Sting on 6/23/94 in Charleston, SC to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Randy Savage on 12/27/95 in Nashville, TN to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Randy Savage on 2/11/96 in St. Petersburg, FL to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. Flair defeated Hulk Hogan on 3/14/99 in Louisville, Kentucky to win the WCW World Heavyweight Title.. 2. Carlos Colon defeated Flair in Puerto Rico on January 7, 1983, but lost the title back 17 days later, the title change is not recognised by the NWA.. 15. A lot of confusing with this one, Flair vs Steamboat ended in a double pin, and the title was held up.. Flair won the rematch to secure the championship.. 10. & 11. Some could consider this one title reign but technically (and we will get technical) it counts on two different title histories, so it's two title reigns.. OKAY, so I've prooved i t, Flair IS, in fact, a twenty time World Heavyweight champion! I hope this settles the debate over how many times Ric Flair has worn World Championship Gold in his career.. Not that Flair needs Gold to proove that he is the man... WWWHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
