As a beloved Superstar, six-time World Champion, “WWE Tough Enough” trainer, King of the Ring and esteemed legend of the squared circle, Booker T has worn many hats in his nearly 22 years in the sports-entertainment business.
Since February 2011, the innovator of the Spinaroonie has also handled announcing duties on SmackDown alongside Michael Cole and Josh Mathews. And then this week, the incomparable Booker T added the newest job title to his illustrious resume: General Manager of SmackDown.
After his first night on the job, Booker was kind enough to grant WWE.com a few minutes of his time. Discussing everything from how overwhelmed and delighted he was to assume control of the best show on Friday nights to his reticent respect of Michael Cole, he is obviously eager about the next exciting chapter of his career.
But should some WWE Superstars, Divas and employees not be as thrilled at his promotion? On SmackDown, Eve and Cody Rhodes already had unconstructive run-ins with the new GM, while Teddy Long was hired on in a cushy new position under Booker: Senior Advisor.
What kind of General Manager is Booker T going to be? Inflexible, fair, comical? How might he compare to new Raw GM AJ Lee, and what does this mean for SmackDown Superstars like Sheamus, Randy Orton and Christian? The only way to find out is to tune in on Friday nights.
Can you dig it?
