***UPCOMING AWF LIVE EVENTS ***

AWF WRESTLING
OCTOBER WRESTLEFEST
@ FAIRY MEADOW FRATERNITY CLUB
FRIDAY 18 JANUARY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) makes its return to Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club to present “New Years Revolution” on Friday 18 January with a massive evening of pro-wrestling action to start the AWF year, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers.

The first AWF card for 2008 will showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special feature bouts, making the event a massive 6 bout super card.

The main event will feature Australia’s number one wrestler, and Australasian Champion, TNT, battling the largest man in the AWF, the 200 cm, 165 kg, Massive Q.

TNT & Q were friends, until Massive Q turned his back on TNT recently, ambushing him after a bout, and joining forces with TNT nemesis Il Cognito to form “The Freakshow”. The two former friends will face off in heated singles action, in what will be Q’s first ever Australasian Championship shot, and TNT’s largest opponent to date. This is sure to be a massive explosion of a bout.

Tag team action will see the popular champions “The Surf Club” – Adam Hoffman and Scotty Club, take on “Platinum Players” combination of Steve Ravenous and JT Robinson. The Players combination of Robinson & Kid Dynamite where defeated by Surf Club for the Championships, so now the Platinum Players have shifted their team around to a more heavyweight style approach in an attempt to bring the belts back to their fold. We will see if this approach will be successful come the 18th.

Young Lion’s Champion Powerhouse Theo will have his hands full with the much larger “Butcher of Beruit” Lebo Ceda. The 192 cm Ceda missed his opportunity at the Young Lion’s Championship in December due to injury, but says he is ready to win the belt now and start 2008 strong. Theo says he is well prepared and ready for big Lebo, and will out power the larger outfit, and show why he is the true “Powerhouse” of the AWF.

In other exciting match ups, in a special NSW Vs Victoria contenders bout, Bluey Bonza will engage Melbournes’s Krackerjack, “Ringmaster” Il Cognito will face the firey Nick Ferno, and “Platinum Player” Kid Dynamite will duel with funny man Max Comic.

“AWF New Years Revolution” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

AWF WRESTLING
NEW YEARS REVOLUTION
@ BLACKTOWN RSL
SAT 19 JANUARY, 2008

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) starts 2008 with a bang at Blacktown, presenting it’s “New Year’s Revolution” event. A huge evening of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers is planned to kick off the wrestling year at Blacktown RSL, with bi monthly events to follow throughout 2008.

The first event at Blacktown for 2008 will showcase all AWF Championships being defended, and special feature bouts, to make the event a massive 6 bout super card.

The AWF Australasian Championship will be on the line, when TNT defends his title against major rival of 2007, “Platinum Player” Steve Ravenous.

TNT defeated Ravenous for the AWF Title on 6 January, 2007, and has remained champion throughout the year, defeating the world’s top independent wrestlers.

Ravenous has been building a streak of victories and facing the best talent in the world also, leading him to finally being granted a rematch, after losing the Championship one year ago.

During 2007 the TNT versus Platinum Players feud has escalated to this very match. At the October, 2007 Blacktown RSL event, the Players interrupted the TNT Vs Sabu AWF Championship match, causing mayhem, and a no contest in the main event, in which TNT wanted to defeat Sabu cleanly. TNT was further 3 on 1 sneak attacked at shows later that month, where he was aided by USA’s Raven to fight off his adversaries. Steve Ravenous was then pitted against his own team in December to gain the championship shot, and after victory, has rallied his team together stronger than ever with a focus of him bringing the AWF Title back around his waist. After all is said and done, it has now come down to Ravenous versus TNT – The Rematch, and this will surely be a heated contest, with the balance of power for 2008 in the balance. Be there to see who walks away Australasian Champion.

In another major grudge title match, the Young Lion’s Championship will be on the line, when Powerhouse Theo and Jay Law showdown one more time to attempt to settle their feud that has been raging for months. Both men have been interjecting each other into their adversary’s bouts, and in December even went to a wild no contest on the Central Coast. This bout will be very intense so fans should be ready for a real war.

In other exciting bouts as part of the big Blacktown line up, The Surf Club defend the AWF Tag Team Championships against Black Venum, Victorian wrestler Krackerjack comes to NSW to battle a NSW opponent, and to round out the card there will be a tag team contenders bout featuring The Freakshow taking on fan favourites Billy Flyswat and Chris X.

“AWF New Years Revolution” is sure to be great evening kickstarting the 2008 wrestling season, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Blacktown RSL.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

– Steve Ravenous pinned Billy Flyswat in the Minto street fight with interference by Dynamite & JT. After the bout Ravenous challenged TNT for a bout at Blacktown on 19 January.

In her absence, Surf Club were victorious over The Freakshow when the Surf’s pinned Massive Q with a Waxhead Shooting Star Press. During the bout Freakshow’s valet Alison Wonderland continuously interfered, which caused a female friend of the Surf Club to enter the ringside area and counter attack Alison to the fans approval, leading to Il Cognito being distracted and Q being double teamed and pinned. – Bluey Bonza gained a title shot against The Surf Club as a result of beating JT Robinson and Kid Dynamite single handedly the night before in Minto. Harry Hardshaw entered just before the bell dressed as a Leprechaun and inserted himself as Bluey’s partner. Surf Club pinned Harry in the end and Bluey & Hardshaw brawled to the back.

AWF NEWSWIRE

– AWF rounded out it’s 2007 year with 2 exciting shows as part of the Year End Extravaganza weekend on December 1 & 2.

The events were full of action and surprises as always and will set the scene for the New Years Revolution events on 18 & 19 January, 2008.

– In headline news TNT remains AWF Australasian Champion successfully defending his Title against USA’s “X-Pac” Sean Waltman at Niagara Park in the final AWF bout for 2007. After a back and forth match TNT scored the pinfall with a well scouted counter to the X-Factor to retain the championship.

– In Tag Team news Surf Club retained their AWF Gold at the Year End Extravaganza events also.

A major happening occurred in The Surf Club versus Freakshow tag team battle at Minto, where Bodacious Bo was absent due to a foot injury, a new female supporter of the Surf Club attacked The Freakshow’s now announced valet, Alison Wonderland, leading to a wild catfight, distracting Il Cognito, while Massive Q was double teamed and pinned with a shooting star press by Adam Hoffman.

It will be interesting to find out the new supporters relationship with Surf Club, and where Bodacious Bo stands in all of this.

Surf Club head to New Years Revolution with bouts against Platinum Players; Steve Ravenous and JT Robinson at Fairy Meadow, and Black Venum at Blacktown.

– The intense rivalry between Powerhouse Theo and Jay Law became even more heated, with the next page in the struggle over the Young Lion’s Championship taking place at the Year End Extravaganza events.

At Minto, Law attacked Theo after his Young Lion’s victory over Harry Hardshaw. Then it was Theo’s turn later in the card to exact some revenge, intervening in Jay Law’s title bout versus TNT, spearing Law while the referee was down, allowing TNT to gain an opening for victory.

At Niagara Park on 2 December the two met for the Young Lion’s Championship, with the match getting out of hand and being ruled a no contest in the end. The rivalry is set to come to head at New Years Revolution Blacktown, with Theo and Law facing off one more time to settle the war. Be there in person on January 19 to find out who is the ultimate Young Lion.

– Enrollments for Dreamcamp 2008, to take place 8-11 January for applicants 12 and above are still oen, and would be a great Xmas/New Years present for any wrestling fan. Info is at http://www.awfwrestling.com.au/awfdreamcamp.php . For those interested please send an email to info@awfwrestling.com.au to receive an application.

– AWF School of Pro-Wrestling Feb – April, 2008 Semester enrollments are also still being accepted. This is the perfect chance for students 16 and over to start the Beginners course fresh in the new year and continue through with a keen group. Info is at http://www.awfwrestling.com.au/awfschool.php . For those interested please send an email to info@awfwrestling.com.au to receive an application.

– Bluey Bonza had an impressive December returning to action from an injured ankle defeating former Tag Team Champions the Platinum Players single handedly in a major upset. Bluey then went on to face The Surf Club for the Tag Team Championship the next day at Niagara Park, however Harry Hardshaw interjected himself as Bluey’s partner and cost him the bout. Despite not coming away with the Titles, AWF congratulates Bluey on a strong return and will no doubt be one to watch in 2008.

– Victoria’s resident crazy, Krackerjack, has put all of AWF’s NSW wrestlers on warning, stating that he is coming to the January NSW events to show them what he is all about. After TNT and Raven humiliated him and his brother Logan in Melbourne at the end of October, Krackerjack heard that the Bastard Brothers had become the laughing stock of the AWF NSW crew. This has sent Krackers even more insane than usual, and he has even apparently lashed out at his brother, who will now be out of the ring for several months with a mysterious injury. Krackerjack is scheduled to face Bluey Bonza at Fairy Meadow on 18 Jan and Mark Hilton on 19 Jan at Blacktown.

– New Year’s Revolution at Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club will see Massive Q receive his first AWF Australasian Championship shot, battling former friend TNT. Massive Q recently turned his back on TNT at the Supernova Pop Culture Convention, brutally attacking him, and joining TNT’s longtime rival Il Cognito to form The Freakshow.

This will be a massive challenge indeed for TNT to overcome and will be a bout that fans in the Wollongong area will not want to miss.

If TNT can survive Massive Q he will then go on to Blacktown to face, the man who was upended for the AWF Title by TNT at the 2007 New Years Revolution Blacktown event, TNT’s main adversary, Steve Ravenous.

TNT and the Platinum Players have been feuding for all of 2007, and January 19, 2008, will see the feud come to a head, in the singles rematch one year in the making. Ravenous defeated TNT’s sometimes tag team partner Billy Flyswat at Minto, and then even went through his own Platinum Players members at Niagara Park to gain the title shot at Blacktown. After defeating his own members Ravenous had these comments. (Insert promo footage)

The AWF Championship bout between TNT & Steve Ravenous will be an unmissable explosion of the two top forces in AWF, so do not miss New Years Revolution at Blacktown RSL, as this bout will surely set the tempo for AWF in 2008.

Tickets for both the Fairy Meadow and Blacktown New Year’s Revolution events are on sale now from the respective clubs, with Ringside tickets $25, and General seating only $15. Book early to avoid missing out!

– In closing AWF would like to thank it’s fans for their support during 2007, and wish everyone a safe holiday season. We look forward to doing it all again in 2008, and aim to grow the AWF even larger, bringing our events to new areas, and making new friends along the way. Please continue to spread the word about AWF, and we look forward to seeing you all at New Years Revolution and other events in 2008!
