Career Highlights
- The new World order gimmick is credited for catapulting World Championship Wrestling to ratings dominance.
- It all started when Scott Hall crashed Nitro and jumped into the ring and declared that he was invading WCW.
- The following week, Kevin Nash joined him on Nitro and intimidated WCW announcer Eric Bischoff.
- Great American Bash 1996: Kevin Nash powerbombs Eric Bischoff off the stage!!
- Bash at the Beach 1996: Hulk Hogan turned on WCW and joined Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and the new World order was born!
- Hog Wild 1996: Hulk Hogan defeated the Giant for the WCW title and The Outsiders defeated Lex Luger and Sting for the Tag titles.
- In the following weeks, they added Ted DiBiase (Benefactor), Vincient (bodyguard), and the Giant to the group.
- The nWo also managed to create their own version of STING, which caused everybody to think the real sting has turned nWo.
- September 15, 1996 – Fall Brawl: The nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, nWo Sting & Scott Hall) defeated Team WCW (Arn Anderson, Lex Luger, Ric Flair & Sting) in a war games rules match.
- Over the months they added Randy Savage, Scott Norton, Syxx, Bubba Rogers, Buff Bagwell, Brian Adams, Scott Steiner and others.
- Eric Bischoff ended up joining the new World order himself, after bringing in Roddy Piper and screwing him over in the process.
- World War III 1996: The Giant defeated Jeff Jarrett. and then went on to win the sixty man three ring battle royal.
- ~~~The Giant became #1 Contender by winning however declined a title shot since nWo leader Hulk Hogan was Champion
- December 30, 1996: The Giant attacked Hollywood Hulk Hogan and demanded his shot at the WCW World Heavyweight title.
- ~~~Hulk Hogan gave in, but it was a trick as the Giant was attacked and then officially kicked out of the new World order.
- During this time, there was a strong working relationship between WCW and New Japan, which had their own version of nWo Japan.
- March 16, 1997 – Uncensored: The nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Randy Savage & Scott Hall) defeated Team Piper (Chris Benoit, Jeff Jarrett, Roddy Piper & Steve McMichael) and Team WCW (Lex Luger, Scott Steiner & The Giant) in a 3-way tag team elimination match.
- May 18, 1997 – Slamboree: Kevin Greene, Ric Flair & Roddy Piper defeated The nWo (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & Syxx).
- June 30, 1997 – WCW Monday NITRO: The Four Horsemen (Chris Benoit, Ric Flair & Steve McMichael) defeated The nWo (Buff Bagwell, Masahiro Chono & Scott Norton) by disqualification.
- September 14, 1997 – Fall Brawl: The nWo (Buff Bagwell, Kevin Nash, Konnan & Syxx) defeated The Four Horsemen (Chris Benoit, Curt Hennig, Ric Flair & Steve McMichael) in a war games rules match.
- December 28, 1997 – WCW Starrcade: The nWo (Randy Savage, Scott Norton & Vincent) defeated Ray Traylor & The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner).
- January 5, 1998 – WCW Monday NITRO: Ray Traylor & The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner) defeated The nWo (Buff Bagwell, Konnan & Scott Norton).
- January 24, 1998 – WCW/nWo Souled Out: Ray Traylor & The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner) defeated The nWo (Buff Bagwell, Konnan & Scott Norton).
- January 31, 1998 – Boston Brawl: Diamond Dallas Page, Larry Zbyszko & Lex Luger defeated The nWo (Kevin Nash, Randy Savage & Scott Hall).
- February 22, 1998 – WCW SuperBrawl: Scott Steiner turned on his brother Rick Steiner and joined the new World order.
- March 9, 1998 – WCW Monday NITRO: The nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall) defeated Randy Savage, Sting & The Giant.
- March 13, 1998 – WCW Thunder: The nWo (Brian Adams, Curt Hennig, Hollywood Hogan, Konnan, Scott Hall, Scott Norton, Scott Steiner & Vincent) defeated The Giant by disqualification in a handicap match.
- April 19, 1998 – WCW/nWo Sping Stampede: The nWo (Hollywood Hogan & Kevin Nash) defeated Roddy Piper & The Giant in a baseball bat on a pole match. Lex Luger & Rick Steiner defeated The nWo (Buff Bagwell & Scott Steiner).
- August 16, 1999 – WCW Monday NITRO: Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray) defeated The nWo (Horace, Scott Norton & Vincent).
- The new World order went dry, and they decided to split into TWO separate groups; nWo Wolfpac and nWo Hollywood, and feuded.
- The 2 nWo factions eventually reformed with new dominence, nWo Reunion — They also had a b-team known as nWo Black&White.
- The nWo angle was completely buried, until Vince Russo took power and decided to give it one more try, creating nWo 2000.
- Unfortunately, the WCW writing staff didn’t know when to stop, and the angle that made WCW successful, ended up killing it.
