Career Highlights
Starting out in New Zealand:
- Butch Miller & Luke Williams began their wrestling careers in New Zealand under the NWA New Zealand banner.
- Butch Miller & Luke Williams were brought to U.S. soil by fellow New Zealander and NWA Hawaii promoter, Steve Rickard.
Stampede Wrestling in Western Canada:
- 1965: Butch Miller and Luke Williams made their debut in Western Canada as “The Kiwis”.
- ~~~The Kiwis won the Stampede International tag team titles.
The Sheepherders:
- Luke & Butch began competing as the “Sheepherders”, a crazy, blood-thirsty team from New Zealand.
- Butch eventually quit wrestling and moved back to New Zealand to be with his family, and was replaced by Jonathan Boyd.
- Butch returned to team with Luke again.
Pacific Northwest Wrestling – Oregon:
- 1981: Buddy Rose discovered the Sheephearders (Luke & Butch) and got them booked in Pacific Northwest with Don Owen.
- The Sheepherders started out as one of the most violent teams in wrestling history.
Universal Wrestling Federation:
- 1986: The Sheepherders enter Bill Watt’s UWF.
- The Sheepherders had a very bloody feud with The Fantastics.
- The Sheepherders won the UWF Tag Team titles on two separate occasions.
- The Sheepherders were the last UWF Tag Team champions when the UWF was absorbed by the NWA.
National Wrestling Alliance:
- 1988: The Sheepherders competed in the NWA for about a year.
World Wrestling Federation:
- December 1988: The Sheepherders joined the WWF, changing their name AND attitude, becoming known as the Bushwhackers.
