  • Glenn Starkey wrote: Just wanted to add to Afa Jr.’s profile that in addition to wrestling, in 2003 he was selected to and played in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl (Football’s version of the McDonald’s All-American Basketball Game) playing Defensive End on a team that featured Chris Leak, Andre Caldwell and Brady Quinn and played against Reggie Bush and LenDale White, the game has gone on to feature several NFL players and is known as one of the highest achievements in High School Football. Note that he played for Bethlehem Freedom HS, the same school that his more famous cousin Dwayne played for, you know him better as the Rock. This honor was for his football skills and he had signed a deal to play for Pitt but later decided to play for Uconn for various reasons. I used to work for the Bowl for 4 years and actually have some great stories about Afa Jr and his father. He is a great person and will go far. Anyway for verification on his All-American status go to www.allamericangames.com
