  • SAPW (South Atlantic Pro Wrestling) Heavyweight title defeating Chris Chavis [Tournament] (February 1991);
  • WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight title defeating X-Pac [Tournament Final] (October 12, 1998);

Career Highlights

In The Beginning:

  • Ken Kilpatrick ‘s father abandoned he and his family and Ken and his brothers learned to fight at an early age.
  • Ken Kilpatrick ‘s step-father tried to control them by beating them but that didn’t work.
  • Ken Kilpatrick (age 10) ran away from home and found himself living in an abandoned car with a few other boys.
  • Ken Kilpatrick (age 10) got stabbed defending himself against an older kid.
  • Ken Kilpatrick (age 14) was sent to the Shamrock Ranch for Boys, which was run by Bob Shamrock.
  • ~~~Bob Shamrock soon encouraged Ken to try out for sports at Lassen High School.
  • Ken Kilpatrick was a natural wrestler and had a rare passion and talent for football.
  • Ken Kilpatrick, as an undefeated wrestler, was on his way to a state championship.
  • Ken put another wrestler on his shoulders during wrestling practice and was about to drop him, when the mat slipped under him.
  • ~~~His opponents weight fell on Ken’s head and neck causing two fractured vertabreas.
  • ~~~A metal halo was inserted in Ken’s skull to prevent his spine from shifting.
  • ~~~Ken was told to avoid strenuous activity for a year and that he would never be able to participate in contact sports again.
  • ~~~Two months later, Ken was lifting weights, playing basketball and even beat a wrestler who weighed over 100 lbs more than him.
  • ~~~Bob noticed that the injury, if anything, seemed to leave Ken’s charge nearly impervious to pain.
  • 1982: Ken Kilpatrick turned 18, Bob Shamrock legally adopted him and Ken finally got the father that he always wanted.

Training:

  • 1988: Bob Shamrock suggested to Ken that he try out pro-wrestling and enrolled Ken into Bob Sawyers School of Pro Wrestling.
  • 1988: Ken “Shamrock” was trained by the late Buzz Sawyer in Sacramento, California.
  • 1988: Ken Shamrock received addition training with Nelson Royal at Royals ACW Wrestling School.
  • 1988: Ken Shamrock entered some Tough Man contests, and was successful in three competitions.

Wrestling Debut:

  • Ken started to work for South Atlantic Pro Wrestling under the name Wayne Shamrock and was managed by Paul Jones.
  • Wayne Shamrock won his first Televised match within a few seconds with a suplex.
  • Wayne Shamrock’s gimmick was then changed to a heel, “Mr. Wrestling” Vince Torelli.

Japan’s UWF Shoot Fighting:

  • September 1990: Ken Shamrock earned a spot with the second incarnation of Japan’s UWF shoot fighting group.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock’s friend Dean Malenko had recommended Ken for a spot on the UWF roster.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock made a lasting impression on UWF stars Masakatsu Funaki and Minoru Suzuki.
  • ~~~Funaki and Suzuki invited Ken to join a shootfighting organization they were forming named Pancrase.

Back with South Atlantic Pro Wrestling:

  • February 1991: Ken (as Torelli) defeated Chris Chavis in a Tournament Final to capture the South Atlantic Pro Wrestling title.

Pancrase and Ultimate Fighting:

  • Ken Shamrock officially moved on to Pancrase.
  • September 21, 1993: Ken Shamrock defeated Masakatsu Funaki in the main event of the promotions 1st show.
  • November 1993 – 1ST UFC EVENT: Ken Shamrock defeated Pat Smith, but fell victim to Royce Gracie in the semifinals.
  • December 1994 – KING OF PANCRASE: Ken Shamrock defeated Manabu Yamada by Judge’s decision (3-0) to claim the honors.
  • UFC V: Ken Shamrock fought nemesis Royce Gracie to a draw.
  • UFC VI: Ken Shamrock defeated Dan “The Beast” Severn with a Guillotine Choke to become the 1st Superfight Champion.
  • December 7, 1996: Ken Shamrock defeated Brian Johnston in an UFC Octagon.

World Wrestling Federation:

  • February 24, 1997: Ken Shamrock made his first appearance for the WWF, sitting at ringside during Monday Night “RAW”
  • ~~~ Ken Shamrock had signed a three-year contract with the World Wrestling Federation earlier in the day.
  • March 23, 1997 – WrestleMania 13: Ken Shamrock was the referee for the “I Quit” match between Bret Hart and Steve Austin.
  • April 7, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Vernon White.

World Wrestling Federation – Ken Shamrock vs. The Hart Foundation:

  • Ken Shamrock’s first WWF match was against Vernon White (one of his students from the Lion’s Den) who he defeated.
  • May 11, 1997 – A Cold Day in Hell: Ken Shamrock defeated Vader in a No Holds Barred Match with the ankle-lock.
  • June 23, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Rockabilly.
  • June 30, 1997 RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
  • July 6, 1997 – Canadian Stampede: Goldust, Ken Shamrock, Steve Austin & The Legion Of Doom (Road Warrior Animal & Road Warrior Hawk) defeated The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Brian Pillman, Jim Neidhart, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog).
  • July 13, 1997 – Shotgun Saturday Night: Ken Shamrock defeated Salvatore Sincere.
  • July 14, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Jim Neidhart by disqualification.
  • July 21, 1997 – RAW: Vader defeated Ken Shamrock by Count Out.
  • August 3, 1997 – SummerSlam: The British Bulldog defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification to retain the European title.
  • ~~~The stipulation was that if the British Bulldog lost the match, he would be forced to eat some dog food.
  • ~~~The Bulldog put some dog food on Ken Shamrock, causing him to “snap” and go crazy on a crew of WWE referees.
  • August 4, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Kama Mustapha.
  • August 9, 1997 – Shotgun Saturday Night: Ken Shamrock was in a battle royal won by The Patriot.
  • August 11, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock and The Patriot defeated Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart.
  • August 18, 1997 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated The Sultan.

  • December 7, 1997 – Degeneration-X: Ken Shamrock defeated WWF champion Shawn Michaels by disqualification.
  • December 21, 1997: Ken Shamrock was scheduled to compete at a UFC PPV, but his opponent, Takada backed out of the deal.

  • June 28, 1998 – King of the Ring: Ken Shamrock defeated Jeff Jarrett in the 1st Round of the Tournament.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock defeated Rocky Maivia in the finals to be declared the 1998 King of the Ring!
  • July 6, 1998 – RAW: Ken had a match with Jeff Jarrett but was suddenly attacked by Mabel from the crowd.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock challenged Mabel to a match later that night, and Ken defeated the “former” King.
  • July 26, 1998 – Fully Loaded: Owen Hart defeated Ken Shamrock in a Dungeon match with Dan Severn as referee.
  • August 2, 1998 – HEAT: European Champion D-Lo Brown defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification.
  • August 17, 1998 – RAW: Dan Severn defeated Ken Shamrock and Owen Hart in a 3-WAY to retain the NWA World Title.
  • August 24, 1998 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Dan Severn by disqualification (disqualification means Dan Severn retains the NWA World Title).
  • August 30, 1998 – SummerSlam: Ken Shamrock defeated Owen Hart in a Lion’s Den match with the anklelock submission.
  • August 31, 1998 – RAW: The Disciples of Apocalypse vs Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman ended in a No Contest.
  • September 6, 1998 – HEAT: Bradshaw defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification.
  • September 13, 1998 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated Vader.
  • September 14, 1998 – RAW: Steve Austin vs Ken Shamrock ended in a No Contest (Steve Austin retains the WWF Title).

  • November 9, 1998 – RAW: Hardcore champion Mankind defeated Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock in a non-title match.

  • November 1998: Ken Shamrock accepted McMahon’s invitation to join his Corporation.
  • November 15, 1998 – Survivor Series: Ken Shamrock participated in a WWF Heavyweight championship Tournament.
  • ~~~Shamrock beat Goldust (1st Round) | Shamrock beat The Rock (2nd Round) | The Rock beat Shamrock (Semi-Finals).
  • November 22, 1998 – HEAT: Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock defeated Val Venis by disqualification to retain the title.
  • November 23, 1998 – RAW: Hardcore champ Mankind beat Big Bossman and Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock in a 3-way match.

  • January 3, 1999 – HEAT: Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart defeated Tag Team Champions Ken Shamrock and The Big Bossman in a non-title match.
  • January 4, 1999 – RAW: Steve Blackman defeated Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock in a Non-Title Match.
  • January 11, 1999 – RAW: Val Venis vs. Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock ended in a No Contest.
  • January 24, 1999 – Royal Rumble: Ken Shamrock defeated Billy Gunn to retain the Intercontinental title. Ken Shamrock was also in the Royal Rumble match won by Mr. McMahon.
  • January 25, 1999 – RAW: Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett defeated Big Bossman and Ken Shamrock to win the Tag Team titles.
  • January 31, 1999 – HEAT: Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock defeated Owen Hart.

World Wrestling Federation – Ken Shamrock vs. Val Venis w/Ryan Shamrock:

  • February 1, 1999 – RAW: Billy Gunn defeated Val Venis w/Ryan Shamrock by disqualification.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock, who was at commentary complaining about his sister being with Val Venis, whacked Val with a chair!
  • February 7, 1999 – HEAT: The Godfather defeated Intercontinental champion Ken Shamrock by disqualification. Shamrock retains the title.
  • February 13, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock viciously attacked Val Venis and the referees during an interview.
  • ~~~Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification when Test interfered.
  • February 14, 1999 – St. Valentine’s Day Massacre: Val Venis w/Ryan Shamrock defeated Ken Shamrock in a Grudge match.
  • ~~~Ryan Shamrock turned on her brother, Ken, and helped her boyfriend, Val Venis, win the Intercontinental title.
  • February 15, 1999 – RAW: Val Venis beat Billy Gunn (during the match Ryan Shamrock was knocked off the apron injuring her ankle)
  • ~~~After the match, Val Venis dumped Ryan Shamrock – backstage Billy Gunn consoled Ryan but got attacked by Ken Shamrock!
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock and Test and Big Bossman vs. Mideon and Bradshaw and Faarooq ended in a No Contest when some drama broke out.
  • ~~~The Ministry abducted a whimpering Shane McMahon and gave him a letter to deliver to Vince McMahon.
  • February 21, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated The Godfather by disqualification.
  • February 22, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock vs. Billy Gunn ended in a No Contest after Val Venis who was doing commentary interfered.
  • March 1, 1999 – RAW: Val Venis defeated Ken Shamrock and Goldust w/Blue Meanie in a 3-WAY by Count-out to retain the Intercontinental title.
  • ~~~After the match, Ryan Shamrock came down and Goldust kissed her and Ken Shamrock went nuts and attacked Goldust.
  • March 7, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock and Goldust defeated Val Venis and Billy Gunn.
  • March 8, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Goldust w/Ryan Shamrock and Blue Meanie.
  • March 15, 1999 – RAW: The Big Bossman defeated Mideon in a Hardcore Steel Cage match.
  • ~~~After the match, The Corporation attacked Mideon and threatened to destroy him if Undertaker didn’t leave the McMahon home.
  • March 20, 1999 – Shotgun Saturday Night: Ken Shamrock and The Big Bossman vs. The Acolytes ended in a double disqualification.
  • March 21, 1999 – HEAT: Intercontinental champion Road Dogg defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification to retain the title.
  • March 22, 1999 – RAW: Ministry (Undertaker and Acolytes) vs. Corporation (Test and Bossman and Shamrock) ended in a No Contest.
  • March 28, 1999 – WrestleMania 15: Road Dogg beat Ken Shamrock and Val Venis and Goldust to retain the Intercontinental title.
  • March 29, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Gangrel (afterwards, Shamrock was on a mission to find Stephanie McMahon)
  • ~~~Shamrock put the anklelock on Ministry member Christian until he blurted out Stephanie’s secret whereabouts.
  • ~~~Shamrock then went to the basement and found a terrified Stephanie McMahon huddled and crying in a dark corner.
  • ~~~Vince McMahon thanked Ken Shamrock for saving his family and said he was forever in debuted to him.
  • April 5, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock vs. Viscera ended in a No Contest when the Ministry ambushed and abducted Shamrock.
  • ~~~This was punishment for Ken Shamrock interfering and spoiling the Stephanie McMahon abduction last week.
  • April 11, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated Mideon.

World Wrestling Federation – Ken Shamrock and The Union:

  • April 12, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock officially quit the Corporation and formed “the Union” with Mankind, Test, and the Big Show.
  • ~~~The Undertaker threatened to sacrifice Debra but Ken Shamrock ran down with a baseball bat and attacked the Ministry.
  • ~~~The Undertaker revealed that Ryan Shamrock was in the basement; Ken found Ryan in the basement being consolled by Mankind.
  • ~~~The Ministry attacked Ken Shamrock and Mankind. Then tried to sacrifice Ken but the Ministry started fighting amongts themselves.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock called out the Undertaker and the Ministry attacked Shamrock until Triple H and The Big Bossman made the save.
  • April 18, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated Test and The Big Bossman in a handicap match.
  • April 19, 1999 – RAW: The Acolytes defeated Edge and Gangrel w/Christian by disqualification when Ken Shamrock attacked the Acolytes with a bat!
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock defeated The Big Bossman in a No Holds Barred match.
  • ~~~After the match, The Undertaker told Shamrock he knew that Ryan Shamrock was in Room 223 in a Landsing Motel.
  • April 25, 1999 – Backlash: The Undertaker defeated Ken Shamrock in a Grudge match.
  • April 26, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock vs. Bradshaw ended in a No Contest when Faarooq attacked Shamrock before the match.
  • ~~~Ken Shamrock interrupted the “Unholy Wedding” between the Undertaker and Stephanie McMahon, only to get beaten up.
  • April 29, 1999 – SmackDown: Ken Shamrock defeated Bradshaw in a no holds barred match.
  • May 2, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock and Test defeated The Acolytes.
  • May 3, 1999 – RAW: The Union made its first collective appearance holding 2X4s to challenge the Corporate Ministry.
  • ~~~Test defeated The Big Bossman and Viscera and Mideon in a 4-WAY (after the match the Union made the save!).
  • ~~~Triple H beat Ken Shamrock with Chyna as referee. Steve Austin vs The Rock ended in a No Contest in a Lumberjack match.
  • ~~~The match never got started as Corporate Ministry Lumberjacks attacked Rock/Austin until the Union and others made the save!
  • May 10, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock vs. Chyna w/Triple H ended in a No Contest.
  • May 16, 1999 – HEAT: Mankind, Test, The Big Show and Ken Shamrock defeated Too Much and The Disciples of Apocalypse.
  • May 17, 1999 – RAW: The Union brawled with the Ministry backstage during the show.
  • May 23, 1999 – Over the Edge: The Union defeated the Acolytes and Viscera and Big Bossman in an Elimination match.
  • May 24, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Hardcore Holly.
  • May 30, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated Jeff Jarrett to qualify for the King of the Ring tournament.
  • May 31, 1999 – RAW: Val Venis w/Nicole Bass defeated Ken Shamrock with help from Jeff Jarrett.
  • June 6, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock defeated Meat.
  • June 7, 1999 – RAW: New CEO of WWF Steve Austin rebooked the show and gave members of the Union any match they wanted!
  • ~~~Vince McMahon defeated Ken Shamrock in a Lion’s Den Match (after the match Jeff Jarrett whacked Shamrock with a chair!).
  • June 13, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock and Road Dogg defeated Jeff Jarrett and Test.
  • June 20, 1999 – HEAT: Billy Gunn defeated Ken Shamrock, The Big Show and Kane in a 4 corners match.
  • June 27, 1999 – HEAT: Ken Shamrock vs. Shane McMahon ended in a no contest.
  • June 27, 1999 – King of the Ring: Mr. Ass defeated Ken Shamrock due to referee stoppage (1st Round).
  • July 25, 1999 – Fully Loaded: Ken Shamrock defeated Steve Blackman in an “Iron Cirle” match.
  • August 9, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock and Test defeated Steve Blackman and Joey Abs.
  • August 14, 1999 – Shotgun Saturday Night: Ken Shamrock defeated Chaz.
  • August 22, 1999 – SummerSlam 1999: Ken Shamrock defeated Steve Blackman in a “Lion’s Den” match.
  • August 30, 1999 – RAW: Ken Shamrock defeated Gangrel.
  • September 2, 1999 – SmackDown: Ken Shamrock defeated Val Venis.
  • September 16, 1999 – SmackDown: Curtis Hughes defeated Ken Shamrock by disqualification.
  • September 23, 1999 – SmackDown: Chris Jericho defeated Ken Shamrock in a 1st blood match.

World Wrestling Federation – Possible Return:

  • May 1, 2000: Ken Shamrock defeated Alexander Otsuka by knockout at the Pride Grand Prix Final.
  • March 2002: The WWF recently talked about bringing in Ken Shamrock for a short-term program with Kurt Angle.
  • The deal fell apart when the WWF wouldn’t give Shamrock the easy schedule they have given to Hogan, Hall, and Nash.
  • March 30, 2002 – Ring of Honor: Ken Shamrock refereed the main event featuring American Dragon vs Low Ki.

NWA: Total Non-stop Action;

  • May 2002: Ken Shamrock signed a one year contract with Jerry Jarrett’s NWA TNA (Total Nonstop Action) group.
  • June 19, 2002 – NWA: TNA: Ken Shamrock and Malice won a “Gauntlet for the Gold” match to win the vacant NWA Heavyweight Title. Ken Shamrock defeated Malice to win the NWA TNA title.
  • July 3, 2002 – NWA: TNA: Shamrock defeated Malice to retain the World title.
  • July 10, 2002 – NWA: TNA: Shamrock vs Takao Omori ends in a no contest because Jeff Jarrett interrupts.
  • ~~~Jarrett comes in and hits everyone (including security and Harley Race) with a steel chair.
  • July 24, 2002 – NWA: TNA: Shamrock vs Sabu ladder match is ruled a no contest when Malice runs down and steals the NWA Title.
  • August 7, 2002 – NWA TNA: Ron Killings defeated Ken Shamrock to win the NWA TNA title.
  • August 2003: Steve Blackman and Ken Shamrock are creating a clothing line for professional fighters.
  • ~~~Their company, no official name, displayed their products on August 2nd at the “Battles of the Beach” in New Jersey.

In the Meantime:

  • October 22, 2003 – UPW: Sylvester “The Predator” Turkay said that he wanted to do something special for the 5th Anniversary Show.
  • ~~~He challenged Ken Shamrock to a match on the show and Shamrock came out and said he’d break Turkay’s legs.
  • February 20, 2004 – UPW 5th Anniversary Show: Ken Shamrock vs The Predator went to a double disqualification.
  • ~~~Before the match, Ken Shamrock got into a verbal confrontation with a drunk Tank Abbott who was sitting in the crowd.
  • May 2, 2004 – NJPW: Ken Shamrock defeated Takashi Iizuka.
